I’m a Mavs fan, and in my opinion we’re at least one move, maybe two from being true contenders. Our backcourt is too small, we’re a bad 3-point shooting team, and we could use any help we can receive on defense. We don’t have the assets to get a big-time difference maker, at least with who we should be willing to trade, but there are several obtainable role players that could help us.

Dirk, Chandler, Parsons, Ellis, Wright, and probably Harris (Only in a homerun deal) are not being moved. Who can we obtain with what we have left and draft picks (we currently have all our future picks)? I think Ilyasova would be the perfect backup for Dirk and would provide 3-pt shooting, rebounding and size. The Bucks seem to have a similar type player in Middleton, and could also play Henson as a 4 to fill the minutes void. I think the future of Milwaukee is Parker & Giannis as versatile combo forwards. Ilyasova has quite a bit of money left on his deal but the Mavs need to be in win-now mode. He doesn’t improve the defense directly, but him being on the court allows us to play Crowder and Aminu more.

Other players I feel like could help are Randy Foye (3-pt shooting) and Chalmers (can guard 1’s &2’s, 3-pt shooting, and could play off the ball with Monta). Are there any other reasonably obtainable players that can help us? Or are we better off standing pat, and hope for internal improvements and the right playoff matchups?
