The U-19 FIBA World Cup is getting to the quarterfinal stage, and one of the most interesting takeaways is the performance of Gonzaga and Gonzaga-bound players.
Joel Ayayi – France- Coming off a seasons where he averaged only about 6 minutes per is averaging 20 PPG through 4 games on 57% shooting and 6-15 from 3. France has made the quarters.
Filip Petrusev- Serbia- He played about 11 minutes per behind Clarke and Hachimura last year. He is averaging 20 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 2.3 BPG. Serbia has made the quarters.
Oumar Ballo- Mali- Incoming recruit and possible older brother to Greg Oden despite only being 16, missed the first two games, but is averaging 17.5 PPG, 12 RPG, and 4 BPG. Mali made the quarters.
Martynas Arlauskas- Lithuanaia- Averaging 6 PPG and 3.8 RPG, but has really stuggling shooting only 28.6% from the floor. Lithuania has made the quarters.
Julian Strawther- Puerto Rico- He is still a year away from enrolling at Gonzaga, but is averaging 20 PPG on 50% shooting, 5.5 RPG, and 1.5 SPG. Puerto Rico made the quarters.
Umm… not bad.
