this team is beyond painful to watch. no ball movement, constant lineup changes and Kevin Knox getting zero development. this is bad. This team needs some kind of identity and right now Fizdale is not the guy

If you think Fizdale is the main problem you are sorely mistaken.

The main problem is James Dolan obviously, but he isn’t going anywhere.

The next biggest problem is Steve Mills. The Knicks are 165-338 in his tenure. He used all the Knicks cap space to sign 4 mediocre power forwards who don’t mesh well together, and didn’t bother to get a competent PG. That’s why their ball movement sucks. They are using an 18 year old RJ Barrett out of position as PG because they’ve basically had no other choice. Now he is trying to throw Fizdale under the bus to save his own job.

Fizdale hasn’t been great either, but he signed up to coach Kristaps Porzingis on an up and coming team. Mills traded KP, their franchise player, for DSJ (who sucks), 2 role players on expiring contracts and 2 1st round picks which will convey in 2021 and 2023 when Dallas will probably be a top top team in the league if Luka keeps developing the way he is, and KP recovers from his injury.

Bottomline Mills has got to go before Fizdale does.

I’ve never liked Fizdale as the coach. I’ve always thought he “coaches for the camera”. With that being said he’s not the only issue. The main issue is ownership. I actually think management is doing a good job and the roster is shaping out alright for the future with Barrett leading the way.

Knicks have a lot of problems- but the biggest might be their scouting department. Over the last 10 drafts they have hit on 2 picks, KP and Barrett.
I realize a few years they didn’t even have picks, but only hitting on 2 out of 10 drafts has you chasing free agents, trading future picks, and overpaying for guys. They live there now.

It is invetiable he will fired and probably soon. Far from hi fault-he never made this team, and with Dolan, they are as dysfunctional as you can get. Fizdale has more than enough respect to get a top assistant role almost anywhere- and who would want to take that Knicks job?

Well they have to do something to resell hope and show season ticket holders “they are trying” during this rebuild. Did anyone actually expect Fizdale to last?

I think the Knicks need a clear strategy to either look to rebuild by FA or via the draft. If via FA look for a proven coach who can get the best out of players if they go via the draft get the best young developer of players they can find.

I agree that Steve Mills hasn’t done a great job and Dolan can tend to interfere. They need to get the right person in as the Team President either someone with a proven record of building teams via FA or via the draft or someone who has the knowhow to appoint the right people to do the jobs under him.
Someone from within a proven organization like the Spurs or Celtics would be a clear option for me.
With the Knicks money why not have a crack at even trying to land someone like Burford or Ainge. I doubt they would move but it might be worth a shot.
