NorrinRaddParticipantI’ll take canadabasketballrising in this one. AD + The Admiral + Jordan + Pippen/Doncic + Kidd + Phil Jackson = championship. The only way to beat a team constructed with Jordan, Phil and ridiculous bigs like this is with somebody so fast nobody can catch ala Damian Lillard or something (undrafted), Curry, Isiah Thomas, Allen Iverson, etc. surrounded by shooters and a team with bigs that can actually outplay the twin towers of AD and David Robinson. Tough task to do simultaneously. Much props to “CBR” for creating the game!!!
Much props to DMO’s team too though. A team with Kareem and Oscar reunited and a James Harden offensive mind would be an interesting matchup for Jordan, but It’s Jordan man..
If there were posters like there was on this site 10 years ago, we would have to do 20 teams and 10 votes a series or something. This has been a blast!!! Thanks for the mindful fun!

RUDEBOY-ParticipantA team of Jordan,Pippen,AD,The Admiral. So many 2 way players on the roster. And Kidd &; Doncic running the point. We all know how much Phil loved big guards. It’s Karma that the guy who Created this draft End up Winning It!! 🥇 I’m going with 🇨🇦 B Ball Rising!!

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’ll take DMO here. This is very close but I think his bigs are slightly better. People are underestimating just how unstoppable a young Kareem was. T-Macs prime was short but he was arguably as good as anyone in the league when he was at his best. He’d be a problem to deal with even for Jordan, pippen or artest. Dumars and drazen would be too small and defensive liabilities in this series. I just think DMO has more depth and more ways to win. Even though CBR has the best closer, DMO has the firepower to wear him down. DMO in 6.

2quick4uParticipantKareem was unable to win in the weakest Era of all time and it’s Magic whom saved his legacy.. Kareem is vastly overrated…

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantsorry. I meant for DMO to pst his explanation
Here is mine
n a 7 game series, I think CBR wins because the matchups favour me more in a series. DMO is a great team of talented scorers, but there is only 1 ball and I don’t think he has as role players who excel playing off the ball as spot up shooters, lock down defenders who are 3D and can stretch the floor, or enough “glue guys” which are needed on every championship team. Dmo either has shooters who can’t play defence, or scorers who cast shoot (Robertson, Baylor, butler, worthy)
Defense- There are too many match-ups which CBR can exploit with weak defenders- Steve Nash, James Harden, Vince Carter, Mcgrady, Dirk, ect. Even at their best these players are not good defenders versus regular NBA player- this will be magnified versus a team of hall of famers and all nba players. CBR can role a team of 9 players who are all 2 way- elite on both ends= shooting and defence.
Who is guarding Jordan? The only player known for defence on the wing is Butler. If Butler plays over Harden or Mcgrady shooting is sacrificed even more (3 non 3 shooters as is Oscar, Baylor, Kareem). With current NBA rules 2 non 3 point shooters on the floor makes it easy on the defence to help. Spacing is severely compromised. Add butler, and It becomes very easy to key in on certain threats. If DMO plays his shooters- Dirk, Nash, Harden- his defence becomes even weaker and every matchup is an advantage for CBR.
3 Kareem Factor- Kareem is the 1 match up that favours DMO. I think David Robinson, Bill Walton and Dwight will make it tough enough with their physicality over a series. Walton in the late 70’s actually outplayed Kareem like Moses Malone (1977 playoffs Blazers SWEPT Kareem’s lakers) it’s Kareem’s longevity that wins the battle. That Walton would be used. When able to, Robinson and Dwight would beat Kareem down the floor for easy finishes, only running the triangle when in the half court.
In conclusion, there is not enough defence to match up with CBR. Too many matchups that benefit CBR which will be exploited in a series.1+ -

dmo21ParticipantWell hello Goliath, it’s David. Gonna be a tough matchup going against the best player and coach, but who doesn’t love a good underdog story?
We’ll go with this lineup verse the CBR:
PG: Robertson, Harden, Nash
SG: Butler, Carter
SF: McGrady, Baylor
PF: Nowitzki, Worthy, Cowens
C: Abdul-Jabbar, EmbiidButler gets called up to the big leagues to focus on Jordan. He’s my best wing defender and will solely focus on MJ. This actually doesn’t hurt my offense too much as Butler can hit a 3 in his prime years at a pretty decent clip (37%). Added back Dirk to increase the fire power as offense is my best way to a championship. Luckily, I have the depth and athletes to do this once again, even in a 7 game series. Don’t think CBR has the wing depth and size to keep up to my boys.
Obviously, this team is built around MJ, so that is our focus on D. Butler on him to start and then just throw athlete after athlete at him to tire him down. Funnel him down into our help defenders where I have 3 great interior guys (Abdul-Jabbar, Embiid and Cowens) that can rough him up a bit).
Offensively, we’re going run and gun as usual. Athletes and shooters. Even though CBR boasts 4 centers, we still have the rebounding advantage to start our fast breaks. Also have the advantage in scoring, assists and 3 pointers made. So I don’t see our offense being an issue. It’s not like we can’t play in the half court either if we get forced into it. Easy enough to drop the ball down to Kareem or Embiid and surround him with all my shooters. We also have the advantage in FT% and 3P%, so that gives us the edge at the end of the game when things get tight.
Lastly, just want to touch base on some of the things CBR brought up. I may not have drafted guys who were known role players. I more went for the Olympic style route and drafted All-Stars and Hall of Famers that would then fit into a role (like Butler focusing just on defense, Dirk being just a shooter). And with that, my team is extremely hard to guard as any guy can beat you at any time. Nobody on the CBR can take a break on defense. Also, It’s hard to call guys like Oscar and Baylor “non-shooters” when they played in a league without the 3 point line.. That doesn’t mean they were unable to shoot.Fin.

HitsterParticipantI’m going to have to go with CBR as I don’t see how DMO can successfully mark MJ. CBR has Pippen or Artest to put on T-Mac and Carter, he also has Kidd and Dumars to guard DMO’s PGs.
DMO has a frontcourt scoring advantage but I think CBR’s frontcourt could nullify Kareem and Dirk more than DMO could keep MJ, Luka and co quiet.
CBR also has the coaching edge on his side with the Zen Master so if it was a real series I’d say CBR in 6.1+ -
Posted on: Mon, 08/09/2021 - 8:20am #1251651
sniperParticipantI think DMO has the most talent on his team. Each team has a guy in the GOAT argument (MJ and Kareem). But DMO has two more guys who I think of as top 15 or 20 all-time players (Big O and Dirk). Not sure CBR has anyone in that group. His next best players are the Admiral, Pippen and Kidd — but DMO outdoes that group with Harden, Baylor, Worthy, Nash, Cowens.
Both teams have several current or recent players who I don’t think really belong in this matchup of all-time greats (AD, Doncic, Artest, Butler, Carter, McGrady, Embiid). It’s not like these guys are role players, they are do-it-all superstars in today’s game, but they mostly haven’t won much of anything except as a sidekick to a better player. DMO doesn’t really have to play any of those guys in an 8-man rotation, while CBR needs to play AD and Luka, so to me that’s another mark in DMO’s favor.
But then DMO throws me for a loop by starting Butler and McGrady over much better players, IMO. I don’t think Butler worries MJ at all. Those are two weak links in the starting lineup and have me re-thinking the matchup. But in the end, DMO didn’t say he was cutting way back on the minutes of Harden, Baylor and Worthy, just that they aren’t starting. If one or two out of that group are finishing games, alongside Kareem, Big O, and Dirk, then I feel confident sticking with DMO.
So DMO it is.

HitsterParticipantWhen we are talking college drafts are we talking about their performances when they were in college or their hype/upside when they were drafted as that involves a lot of the one and done guys?
I found an old list of the 50 greatest college players of all time from a decade ago and I think about 20 to 22 were drafted in the recent All Time Draft. But count me in if you do a college one. I’ll have to do some research but it sound interesting.2+ -

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI’m in. But I say we just assemble college rosters based on college careers. When you factor in “hype and expectations” it just leaves too much gray area and room for interpretation.

HitsterParticipantAs regards the college guys for example how do you judge Cade Cunningham drafted 1st this year against Luka Garza only drafted 52nd but he was clear player of the year in most awards. This will be such a fun draft as we’ll have the usual superstars but you could get former Senator Bill Bradley in the mix. Plus the most legendary college coach ever John Wooden was an elite college player in his youth so could be drafted as a player and would be a lock to be picked as a coach too.

HitsterParticipantIt would depend how far back we want to go. Also voting and only considering a player’s college career. Someone like Kareem was right near the top in each but others less so.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantIf I can make another suggestion I think if you are going to do a college draft I think it would make more sense to pick the coach first, and than build your roster around players that would fit into their philosophy of how they want to play.
