 It was suprising that Charles bassey went back, but a good decision nonetheless!

Bassey definitely is a surprise, but considering his ceiling was low second round, he probably made the right choice. I’m also a bit surprised by Jordan Nwora going back. I thought he had a shot at being a first rounder this year and probably wouldn’t be next year.

Jordan nworra backing out was a little surprising to me. I thought he had a decent chance to go first round. But you never know what type of feedback these guys are getting.

Getting hurt at this time of year didn’t help Nwora’s cause. That said, and I am not sure the rules for college players at the FIBA World Cup, but Nwora has played with the Nigerian team when classes were out of session. It is an event could really do a ton for him. Bassey is also eligible for Nigeria, though I tend to believe he will have a tougher job to get into the team.

 Rayjon Tucker was a surprise. He had mentioned he would be going to Memphis. Some observers had him penciled in as the starting sf. Playing with that talented incoming class might’ve boost his stock. Moses Brown staying in didn’t surprise me. But if he had stayed another year, it would’ve helped him. Some say Zack Norvell & Jordan Poole should’ve stayed in school. But they could have similar success to what Alonzo Trier had last season if they get with the right team!

I’ve always wondered why players whose chance of getting drafted is slim stay in the draft.  I understand why you would declare from an exposure perspective, but to stay in???  Puzzling.  Here are a few names that standout to me:

Some guys don’t like college (or the current coach who didn’t recruit them), others are getting lied to about the money they will be getting, some just make a bad decision, and others just a decision that isn’t going to be great or career ruining. It is somewhat easy to identify the guys who probably won’t get drafted but would otherwise be returning to a coach that they didn’t originally sign on to play for. I think Guy is riding the wave of the title, and is probably better positioned to get drafted now than if he was to return, play solidly, but UVA is just another 4-6 seed. With Battle and Ward, they tried to leave a year ago, and returning didn’t really change the regard in which teams held them. Perhaps that is because neither really took a jump in development as a player to change the minds of NBA teams, but to a frustrated player who holds himself in high regard that can also be read as college is not helping their cause.

 It’s amazing that a whooping 32 players that went Undrafted last season, appeared in a nba game. Most of those guys were specialists. Guys like Kyle Guy a good shooter, who played well at the combine & Jaylen Hands whose game might be suited for the nba, should be able to find roles in the nba.

Marques Bolden did show much during his time at Duke, staying in the draft. I’d be surprised if he gets drafted. Let alone picked up as an undrafted free agent. He’s headed to the G league or overseas.

I find it hard to believe Wooten isn’t on the mock. There’s no way he doesn’t stick. He’s perhaps the most dominant defensive player this draft.
