I really feel sorry for him. He came back way earlier then I thought and was better then I expected and now this. Things like that are never fair but what a bummer and this is really a career threatening time for a talent like him who is in his prime now. Hope he comes back strong and mentally well prepared!

Gotta wonder if all this is a product of rushing back from the Achilles. That, the quad injury, then this makes me think it’s all related. Really makes me appreciate the big men that can stay healthy because it seems like it’s a coin flip whether or not you’ll be able to stay on the court if you’re a 7 footer

 That’s so awful. I feel terrible for Cousins. Hopefully he has a quick recovery, but if he keeps getting hurt at this rate I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s forced to retire early.

 I feel terrible for Boogie … I really admired his performance in the Finals. It looked like he didn’t trust his body but he went out there and just willed himself to make big plays. 

The Lakers lose a major piece if he’s out for the season, but I think there’s a plus side for them (no disrespect to Cousins): They have to go all-in on the LBJ/Kuz/AD frontcourt. Kuz becoming an all-star type of player this year is their only chance to hang with the Rockets, Clippers and Nugs, in my opinion.

DeMarcus Cousins has been diagnosed with a torn left ACL, according to his agent.

 

Brutal news for Cousins and the Lakers. He returned from a torn Achilles last season with Golden State, and recovered from a torn quad muscle in the playoffs, but will now head back to a rigorous rehab process that leaves his status for 2019-20 up in the air. It’s possible that he’ll be at full strength for a playoff push with L.A.

It’s worth noting that all of his recent injuries (Achilles, quad and ACL) were to his left leg.

There is a video out showing the injury occurred in a pick up game. It was reported by Cousins camp that it occurred during a workout. Not that it should necessarily matter but you have to wonder, given cousins injury history, if there was some kind of clause in his contract that prevented him from playing unsanctioned pick up ball in the summer. Just something to consider.

A workout and a pick up game could, in theory be the same thing. We’re speculating as to what is in his contract … but he signed for one year, $3.5 mil. I would be shocked if the Lakers went after him over that. The guy is suffering enough. Would just be in poor taste. It wasn’t like he was out wrestling alligators or something.
