Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantOturu has been putting up some monster numbers this year on a pretty subpar Minnesota team. He’s been steadily climbing the mock draft boards (this site currently has him at 8). What are your overall thoughts on him as a prospect?
Minnesota currently runs a lot of its offense through oturu out of the post and on the elbow but he doesn’t project as that type of offensive player at the next level. He has a nice touch around the basket on jump hooks and from the mid-range but he lacks the lower body strength to establish deep position and can get pushed out of position by stronger players. His low post moves are still very basic at this point and he struggles to make reads out of double teams.
However, he has showcased excellent shot blocking ability at the college level and that should translate to the next level. He has also shown an increased ability to space the floor, even out to beyond the college three. While he still has some work to do in this regard, the raw outline of big who can protect the rim while also spacing the floor (Myles turner type) is there and those players can be extremely valuable in today’s league. It’s not a given that he ever develops into that type of player but it’s why he might be a guy worth gambling on in the lottery.0 -

bt102ParticipantWell, I think he is gonna be alright i guess. I dont know who would take the chance on him in the lottery tho. I think he could go in the top 20 but I don’t see a lottery selection for him at least right now.

sweaterflexParticipantI doubt NBA teams will run offense through him but I can see him being a better defending Thomas Bryant, able to rim-run and spot up and defend the rim some. He doesn’t look like he can switch on the perimeter though and he will likely get beasted occasionally on the block until he puts on more muscle.

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantThis is shaping up to be a draft with very little consensus. It is better to cover all your bases.
