festar35ParticipantAccording to Woj Carmelo is joining the Portland Trailblazers. May have been good signing a few years ago, but he may surprise. Portland could definitely do with some more talent , I really hope he plays well.

OhCanada-ParticipantGood move by Portland. They are bad this year. Carmelo is a wildcard worth the risk with tons to prove.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantNon-guaranteed deal so carries very little risk. Best case scenario, he gives them some added scoring punch and helps keep them afloat until some of their main guys get healthy or they can swing a trade to upgrade the roster. Worst case scenario, he doesn’t work out and they waive him.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantHe wasn’t used right during his time in OKC and Houston. They had him in catch and shoot situations. I believe his style fits the way Portland plays.

canadabasketballisrisingParticipantI think carmelo will surpise a lot of people like Dwight has and be Portland’s starting pf until Leonard returns.. and then be in the dicussion for 6th man, where outside of the clippers two super subs-could win that 6th man award. Melo really is still better than about half the league, and is a top 100 player on offense. If Melo can accept his role, and limit his defensive liability on defensive switches- he should be a major piece of Portland;s playoff run. The Blazers don’t have much depth at 3 or 4.

HitsterParticipantHe is a low risk high upside signing and at 35 he must know this is likely his last shot at the NBA if things don’t work out. So I’d figure he’ll do his best to be a good team player.

OhCanada-ParticipantThis opportunity has a real chance to make Melo look good. Portland has struggled but they are a good team, and quite honestly would probably end up figuring it out without him. They’ve done this before during the Lilliard regime and usually get hot and go on an insane winning streak.

r377ParticipantI don’t think Carmelo would last a full 12 months in the NBL (australia). He needs to go to china – lots of shots and scoring with no defense – He would be PERFECT in China

klementimeParticipantHe’ll play a game here and there but he’ll be like tonight most of the nights. You can’t be a PF racking up 14 shots, scoring 4, ZERO free throws, 5 turnovers, 5 PF in 24 minutes. That’s a lot of damage….for his team. And yes, they lost.

The GoatParticipantGame worst minus 20 +/-
I can’t believe he got 14 shots up straight away after being out so long.Shall we take bets on how long he’ll last in the rotation? I’ll say he’ll be done by ASG.

r377Participanton floor -20 5 turnovers and zero assists. I remember in the OKC playoffs his on floor -/+ was absolutely awful.
They already have a chucker in rodney Hood, at least Hood gets hot once in a while.

klementimeParticipantSomehow it’s just like I thought it would be. He “plays” but the team doesn’t. They’re 0:3 with Carmelo in the starting 5. Get him on the bench and when the second units play he might be able to make a difference, a call here and there, would not be “pressed” to play defence as he never did play any of that.
That’s the best Portland can get from him. If he can’t buy into it then cut the crap and move on. And it will finally be the last we hear from him.

LogoLillardParticipantAs a Blazer fan Melo is fitting in well. The problem with the first few games that Melo played in was that 6’8 Anthony Tolliver was the starting Center and Portland had Zero interior defense or Rebounding. With Whiteside back in the team they haven’t given up the offensive boards and this has resulted in two blow oits wwith Melo scoring efficiently.

OhCanada-ParticipantWell he’s played 6 games now. His last 3 games he’s averaging 22 points 8 rebounds and 3 assists on excellent effeciency. Much better.

HitsterParticipantHe does look a nice fit alongside Whiteside and he has proven he can still be a good NBA scorer and if he can be used efficiently shotwise, he’s a nice 3rd option to have behind Lillard and McCollum. Plus it helps spread the play and Whiteside will get a few easier baskets if the spacing is right..
