Here is the link to the ESPN Trade Machine.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bknncfb

This year is a bust and I don’t think that Dwight is worth a max deal for LA so they should trade him while they can get some value. Dwight expressed interest in Dallas and they have the money to sign him to a max deal. In this trade Dallas would give up a first rounder to the Lakers also. All of the players going to LA fit into the D’Antoni system and can play multiple positions. (Kaman is just to match salaries and wouldn’t be resigned).

    So Lakers roster for 2013-14

    Nash Duhon/Blake
    Kobe Meeks
    Marion Crowder/Fields
    J Hill Metta
    Bargnani

And draft whoever they like out of Len, Cauley-Stein, and Austin.

For Toronto, Bargnani is the odd man out of that rotation and the Raptors have actually been better without him. Pau can play center there and the Raptors get rid of their two most expensive contracts that go a year longer than Pau’s.

For Dallas, they add Dwight which is why they cleared all the cap space in the first place and keep Dirk. And they would still have money to use on other free agents like Nick Young, Dorrel Wright, Jarret Jack, etc.

So the Lakers give up Pau and Dwight and get nothing outside of 3 pretty awful contracts….sounds like the type of trade that the Lakers usually pull off but in the other direction…they usually give up nothing and get an all-star.

And no long term commitments so in 3 years they can rebuild post Kobe. Dwight’s best years are behind him.

I am sure they would love to commit 25 million for the next 2 to 3 years of Bargnani (who plays less D than anyone on their roster now), Marion (who is Metta World Peace with a way worse jumpshot) and Landry Fields who is PER of 6.4 is amongst the ten worst in the league.

This trade makes no sense whatsoever….Gasol only has 2 years left on his deal so why would you trade him for worse players with more years if you are trying to rebuild like you say?

comparing the traded players PER vs their salary each year shows the value of the players going to the Lakers. Dwight and Pau combined salary is $38.5 million with a combined PER of 34.7. The incoming players are $33.5 million and PER of 61.1. And Landry played much better under D’Antoni and Nash and Marion have great chemistry together. Crowder is exactly what the Lakers are missing. And the Lakers would get a lottery pick. Younger, faster, deeper, better, and no long term commitments.
