I get sick when I hear that a team has Bird rights and can offer max contacts at 118 for 5 years vs another team offering “only” 88 for 4 years….then the comment goes “boy…thirty million is alot to leave on the table”

First of all that 30 is guaranteed money only…..a player in his late 20s should feel confident enough that he can make up at least that in the fifth year of a new contract

In Howard and LA vs Houston…..Texas has no state income tax….which automatically cuts the 30 difference in half
