Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantBest: Latrell Sprewell (1992)
There were several options here but Sprewell was the guy that I felt had the biggest impact on the team that drafted him. A lot of people remember the way his tenure in Golden State ended, but he was a hell of a player in the 5+ years he was there. He made the All-Star team 3 times and was first team All-NBA in 1994. Kyle Lowry is probably the player here who had the best overall career, but the bulk of his success came much later on his career, when he was far removed from the Memphis team that drafted him. Sam Cassell and Terry Porter are also decent options, but I’m going with Spree.
Other contenders: Terry Porter (1985) Arvydas Sabonis (1986) Rick Fox (1991) Sam Cassell (1993) Derek Fisher (1996) Andrei Kirilenko (1999) Kyle Lowry (2006) Serge Ibaka (2008)Worst: Tyler Lydon (2017)
The Nuggets have generally drafted well in recent years but they screwed this one up in a big way. They originally took Donovan Mitchell with the 13th pick but traded him on draft night for Lydon and Trey Lyles. While Mitchell instantly looked like a potential superstar in Utah, Lyles was a disappointment in Denver and Lydon could never crack the rotation in his 2 years in Denver and is currently out of the league.
Other contenders: Damian James (2010) Dalibor Bagaric (2000) Rodrick Rhodes (1997) Fred Banks (1987) Michael Young (1984) Cornelius Cash (1975)1+ -

bt102ParticipantEven at the time of the draft, I didn’t even think he was a second rounder. I know its easy to say that now, but I remember shaking my head in disgust at that pick when I found out.
