Asked by The Post to elaborate, King said: “Now you can obviously go back into your records and find games where you can come back and dispute that — well I’m not looking at records. I’m just going based on my recollection of what I’ve seen. That’s what I can go on.”

Respectfully, I think Mr. King is mistaken. Melo didn’t exactly step up when paired against Lebron in last years 1st round playoff exit. Lebrons defense made Melo a chucker most of that series. Melo couldn’t get by Lebron because he was too slow and he couldn’t bully Lebron like he does most players. Melo took ALOT of fadeaway’s and alot of bad shots in general because he couldn’t create seperation any other way. Bascially, Melo looked overmatched for much of that series when guarded by Lebron.

If you can recall, there was much critisism for Melo after going down 0-3. Most of it centered around the Knicks having lost 11 or 12 straight playoff games. Melo responded with a heck of a game 4, nailing many of those spinning, off balance shots, but still didn’t get to the rim. Game 5 was an attempt at a repeat but Melo went back to shooting his team out of the game late.

Anyone who watch last years 1st round MIA vs NYK series will remember this.

Looks like we didn’t have to go to far back into our “records” to pick a point in time where it really mattered and Melo’s brand of ball was no match for what Lebron brought to the table. This wasn’t just me “finding games where you can come back and dispute that”, it was a playoff series. The most recent Knicks playoff series.
