 I’m pretty pleased! Atlanta traded him for Evan Turner and nothing more. Both are expiring deals in 2020 so Portland still has ~$40 million in expiring deals this upcoming season. Bazemore also fits our needs in ways that Turner never did as far as being a 3D player. 

Fully expecting Anfernee Simons to break out now that he will have backup PG minutes with Seth Curry basically out the door. Between Simons, Bazemore, and Collins backing up the Blazer starters, I expect the Blazers to once again, outperform everyone’s expectations of them!

I actually think the Blazers could start Bazemore at the 3 and then move Harkless up to the starting 4. Of course this depends if they bring back Seth, Hood, Aminu, and Kanter.

Turner did well running that second unit. He was just extremely over paid.

 I would hope they bring back Aminu and Kanter. Kanter was a very active defender and decent passer. Aminu is a crowd favorite. Hood had a couple good games in the playoffs. I’m not confident he’ll ever match that again.

I think Bazemore will be a significant upgrade over harkless and Aminu. Aminu should get most min at PF

 It looks like Aminu and Kanter want to go back to the Blazers.  I think it will be harder to retain Curry and Hood.

If Aminu and Kanter do come back I think there rotation then looks like

Atlanta should of got a second rounder out of Portland to make this deal fair.

 Its pretty simple. Its a bad contract swap. Hawks over crowded on the wings and Baze would of took minutes from young players we need to develop. Hawks need a packup pg. Baze fits Portland better and Turner fits Hawks better. Win for both teams.

 Also everyone saying Baze is better…is he though? Its def close. Ive watched Baze for the last idk how long like 6 years every game, hes not bad, but he will drive you crazy. He def thinks hes better than he is lol he drives in traffic and throws up a bunch of bullsh!t. He shoots alot of 3’s considering hes not that good of a shooter and his percentages back that up. Like I said though hes not bad hes just not gonna move the needle. I think he def is a good fit in Portland bc they could use him more then anyone else so its a good situation for him. Another thing I like about Schlenk I think he also may of made this move for Baze. He was well respected and a great teammate even when he lost minutes. So I think Schlenk was looking out for him and wanted to put him in a good situation for his contract year. Although not only reason bc like I said Turner fits our needs better. And like I said I dont dislike Baze, he was great in lockerroom and the city but his time here was done. So all this to say win win for both teams considering its just a bad contract swap.

Altanta has been a lottery team for a few years now so he was able to take a lot more shots, but now he is in Portland on a team with a lot of firepower in the starting backcourt he won’t have as much freedom. He is more likely to be spotting up from 3 and cutting to the basket than being asked to create shots. He has been a good corner 3 shooter and that has been a huge weakness for Portland. Turner was a liability on offense when he didn’t have that ball as he was only making 21% of his 3’s.

 I agree. Like I said hes def better fit in Portland and I think he will be good for yall. Or better then what youve had. Do you Portland fans dislike Turner(besides the fact that hes way overpaid) ?can he be decent back up pg for Trae? I truly think its win win for both. He will be good switch change of pace for Trae bc he is way bigger and way better defender. He is better distributor then Baze too, and its not like we need that many minutes from him probably 12-18 min a night depending how Evan is playing. But, for a bad contract swap I think both teams gained. Agree?

Agreed. From what I have seen, most Portland fans like the trade. Some are complaining about the fact Baze earns another 600k and Portland are already well over the cap.

Turner was a very active defender. I question his understanding of the game. He was a jack of all trades in Boston ala Lance Stephenson. In Portland he was painful to watch. His NBA career hopefully is about done.

 Good move for both teams as Portland were Western Conference Finalists and are looking to contend whilst the Hawks are still in rebuild. Bazemore gives Portland more offence options from the bench whilst Turner is a solid veteran presence for the Hawks to have and they could always buy him out in due course.

Plus moving Bazemore allows the Hawks to free up more playing time for Hunter and Reddish and it gets Bazemore onto a contender which he’ll like.
