What do you all make of the allegations that have surfaced as part of the Michael Avenatti / Nike extortion case.
The guy is a slimeball, but he seems to be putting numbers on something we all knew. It would also appear that the EYBL and other competive circuits are basically pro basketball.
Will this have any fallout for colleges or players involved?
Duke is safe
What makes you say that?
What allegations?
He’s dropping dollar amounts Nike either offered or entertained providing to guide prospects to Nike programs.
"According to Yahoo! Sports, a motion filed in federal court by Michael Avenatti alleged that Nike was willing to direct $20,000 to Langford and $35,000 to former Duke star Zion Williamson, potentially to bring both players into Nike’s grassroots program. Per the Yahoo! report, there is no indication either player was aware of or was ever presented such arrangements."
I’ve only read transcripts of alleged phone call recordings, but if he has evidence like he says he does, that’s similar in nature to what I’ve read, then it could be a problem for Nike.
