 Well that couldn’t have gone much worse for us. This draft is pretty weak, especially outside of the top 3.

I have no idea who the Hawks even target at this point. Probably just swing for Bol Bol and I guess Reddish at this point.

Not going to say anything about the Luka trade, but if I’m the Mavs I feel even better about it. I’m sure there are at least 1-2 studs outside of the top 3, but it’s going to be tough to figure out who that is with such a steep drop off.

Players I like in this draft: Zion, Morant, White, Bol, Clarke, Reid, Herro, Edwards, Kevin Porter 

Players I liked in last year’s draft: Ayton, Doncic, Bamba, Walker, Huerter, Okogie, Okobo.

 Honestly it’s not the worse that could happen. If Dallas had jumped into the top 4 that would mean they would have to get Dallas pick next year which I like the Mavs chances to compete for a playoff spot next year. Also lets be honest them having 8 & 10 in this years draft is not that much different than say having 4 & 6. The Hawks aren’t in play for Garland or Coby White since they have Trae, so the 3/4’s they may have taken a few spots earlier still may end up there. If we say the top 7 are Zion, Morant, Barrett, Hunter, Culver, Hachimura, Garland/White, that still leaves them with say Reddish and Bruno Fernando which wouldn’t be bad for them. I think their biggest need is to get another wing shooter to pair with Young and Huerter so you can have your poor man’s Warriors backcourt, and then a solid center so that John Collins can play the 4.

It’s unpopular, but I always say take the best player available, especially if you’re at the top of the lottery. I don’t care who’s on our roster. Great players make it work. There’s nobody on our roster that would warrant that sort of decision making.

I think a wing or a big is probably the best choice at this point.

This idea of building Golden State light is something I’ve never been sold on, but doesn’t appear we can do anything else but stick with it. It better work.

 They could definitely take Garland or White with one of those picks. Both players could be gone by 8, but maybe one is there. White could play as a combo guard at 6’5", with not great length he’d be slightly undersized and needs to fill out, but you could have a great 3 guard rotation. Garland might be tougher… taking a chance with the injury and he would have to grow an inch or two and get stronger if you think about playing them like a lillard/McCollum backcourt. But think about the spacing and offense! Long term they could both work, and the way Atlanta wants to get in front of the shooting trend I’d say they are an option.

 I’m not super sold on any of the wings at the top of the lottery but people always neg me and lose their minds when I suggest taking another guard that might in anyway shape or form take the ball out of Trae’s hands lol.

Just shows that tanking isn’t going to get you what you think. Really happy the NBA changed the odds.

So sad we ended up with the short stick though. But maybe next year we’ll get lucky.

 Correct me if I am wrong but I think that hawks pick is still 1-10 protected next year.

 

And as a cavs fan I find it difficult to imagine 10 teams worse then the Cavs.

I honestly expect both to get taken before either pick, but that would be a great get. Trae and Huerter could become one of the better shooting duos. I like Reddish because I think he can create a little bit: something they’d be missing. I think Tyler Hero might be the best shooter in the draft (based on optics, not percentages). It’d be really cool to have him and Bol Bol. Bol almost made half his 3’s in a small sample size. They’d also be pretty switchable. Very modern.

I think the Hawks can snag two good players, but they need to roll the dice with both picks. Bol Bol for sure but I think he’ll be gone by 8. Trading up may be an option if they like someone and teams with skinny rosters like New York or Cleveland should consider it.

Would Huerter, Collins, Prince, 8, 10 and an unprotected future first be a chance of landing AD?

The Suns definitely got screwed and they will be absolutely terrible again. I expect Booker to be moved because he will start barking soon and they are on a path where they are going to lose him for nothing. They have to take Garland or White as the PG position is a shambles.

There is no chance they trade AD to Atlanta. AD wants to win now. The Hawks have a long term plan in mind. He’d walk as soon as free agency hits and wouldn’t agree to a contract extension.

Suns aren’t moving Booker until absolutely necessary. They have him on a fat long term deal, and they’re going to try to make it work until then. He’s on of the few young clear franchise players in the game.

 They can either package to move with a team like 

NYK -If Reddish(they are apparently high on him) slides they maybe keen to do this move and gain another young need. 

Memphis also could trade out if they aren’t high on any of players probably not named Zion and want to fill multiple needs. Would be crazy if the Pelicans didn’t take Zion though…

Take best available needs and add to young Core of Hueter,Prince,Collins and Young…

I think Memphis takes Ja and moves Conley to somewhere like the Lakers or a team trying to contend. They wanted to move him at the deadline and start over. Now they get a stud young PG and can recoop some assets.

 Not happy with the results of the lottery but as an atlanta fan it was guaranteed to play out like that. Im actually surprised we got Dallas pick so thats good. But swing for the fences and take Reddish and Bol if at all possible.

 Best case scenario would be for them to get Culver with #8 who could be consolation prize for giving up on Duncic last year as same type of player but not as good, and with #10 get Hayes who they love his potential and fit at center position…

 The Hawks pick from Dallas might not have come across this year if Dallas had got lucky in the lottery. With two top 10 picks the Hawks will have nice options. I fully agree that the last couple of year’s drafts have been much deeper in the 5 to 10 area etc.

I’d figure they would look to take a SG/SF and a big with the two picks so Reddish would be someone they will certainly look at and other such guys in that draft area. Hayes, Fernando and even Doumbouya will likely be looked at. I think they will have to give Bol Bol a very close look too, his draft status is the wildcard for me. He could be outside the lottery or even gone before Hawks pick at 8. But a guy of that size you really need to observe at close quarters and try to figure out if he is a legit prospect.
