    First Team
    G Lebron James
    G James Harden
    F Giannis Antetekoumpo
    F Anthony Davis
    C Nikola Jokic

Some might consider it cheating to list Lebron James as a guard, but I feel perfectly comfortable slotting him there as he effectively played the pg position for the Lakers this entire season (and led the league in assists). The rest of the selections are pretty rock solid to me so I’m not going to analyze this too deep.

    2nd Team
    G Luka Doncic
    G Damian Lillard
    F Kawhi Leonard
    F Khris Middleton
    C Rudy Gobert

Doncic is another player that you could debate what position he actually plays on the court but he is no-brainer for this list. If you wanted to move Lebron to forward and put Doncic on the first team I wouldn’t be mad. Lillard kept Portland afloat amidst a wave of injuries and may have had his best season yet. Leonard did his usual load management but was clearly still the most worthy of the remaining forward selections. There were several worthy candidates for the second forward spot, but I decided to reward team success and consistency and go with Middleton. And Gobert did what he does as well as ever. If Embiid had played more games he would’ve likely gotten the nod.

    3rd Team
    G Chris Paul
    G Russell Westbrook
    F Jimmy Butler
    F Pascal Siakam
    C Joel Embiid

While Paul’s stats might not scream All-NBA, his overall impact does. Considering how much his presence meant to a surprising OKC squad, I couldn’t leave him off. Westbrook did not start off the season well, and there is always a debate about how much his numbers actually contribute to winning. Ultimately, I had him beating out Ben Simmons and Bradley Beal for the final guard spot, but I wouldn’t be mad if you thought differently. Butler and Siakam were both the best players for overachieving teams and deserved recognition here, although Jayson Tatum was a tough snub. Embiid played 44 out of a possible 65 games, which is right on the fence of what I would consider to be missing too many games. Overall, his stats and impact were too great to ignore when he did suit up, although I strongly considered Bam Adebayo.

    1st team
    James, Lowry, Leonard, Giannis, Jokic

Go ahead, kill me over Lowry. I know Harden is “better.” But Toronto lost Kawhi freakin’ Leonard, replaced him with basically nobody, and will likely finish with a higher winning percentage than last year. Lowry is the main reason why. Siakam is the most talented Raptor but he had a down year, he was better last season. Harden put up historically great stats once again but his team underachieved big-time.

    2nd team
    Paul, Harden, Middleton, Davis, Gobert

    3rd team
    Doncic, Simmons, Butler, Tatum, Sabonis

I tend to put a high value on team success for these things, so great as Lillard is I’m not rewarding a guy on a team 10 games below .500 (and look for the Blazers to sink like a stone in Orlando). Other than that we don’t disagree too much — you could make an argument for 20+ guys to be third-team.
