2017 NBA lottery re-draft

1.) Donovan Mitchell – He’s already top 5 at his position, IMO has a lot more upside to discover, and is an elite teammate. Donovan is number 1 for me.

2.) Jayson Tatum – This pick is based a little bit on upside, as either Fox or Markannan could make a case for this spot. I’ll go with Tatum since wings seem a little more en vogue in today’s game, and he’s shown he can compete at a very high level in the playoffs

3.) DeAaron Fox – Future all star without question. He’s got the "it factor" and plays with great effort and intelligence. Great value here at #3.

4.) Lauri Markannan – This was the toughest selection for me. I considered him at #2. His offensive game is tremendous, and he can get his shot off over anyone. Could average 25ppg sooner rather than later

5.) John Collins – Love Collins. His defense looks improved so far this year, and he is extemely athletic and efficient from all over the floor. Great get at #5.

6.) Lonzo Ball – I’ve liked what I’ve seen a lot from Lonzo thus far. His 3pt shot seems to be considerably improved, and he’s a great defender with excellent court vision. #6 seems like the right spot.

7.) Bam Adebayo – Serious MIP candidate. His passing jumps off the page, and he’s an electric face-up player against slower defenders. Big leap coming for him this year & the main reason why I picked Miami to get home court advantage in 1st rd of playoffs this year

8.) Jonathan Isaac – He’s like a bigger Robert Covington. Can shoot the 3, and is proving to be a real menace on defense. His assertiveness & inconsistent effort on offense is disappointing though. He disappears for too long of stretches & never demands the ball.

9.) Zach Collins – I’m coming around on Collins. If you watch his footwork, he has skills that can’t be taught for a player his size. Add in his shooting, and he could be an above average starting Center within the next few years.

10.) Kyle Kuzma – This kinda feels a couple spots high, but getting a likely 20ppg scorer at ten is good value. I also think he’ll shoot the three better this year with both AD & Bron generating so much attention.

11.) Derrick White – Love this guy. When healthy last year, he was at times the best player on the court for the Spurs. That’s saying something when Aldridge & Derozan are your teammates. Health is a concern….. but he’s got the talent to be a really good guard.

12.) Thomas Bryant – He’s proving to be a really versatile offensive player. Could be Washington’s 2nd best player this year behind Beal. 

13.) OG Anunoby – Another guy who could jump up a few spots. Has great feel, can do a lot of things on both sides of the ball, excellent size, and a good teammate. Wouldn’t surprise me if he becomes better than Jonathan Isaac eventually.

14.) Markelle Fultz – I’ve like what I’ve seen from Fultz this year. No, he will not live up to his #1 pick status….. but a good year this year could help him become a good starter for years to come with increased confidence. He still has a ton of talent regardless of his shooting issues, and can help a team win games.
