USA 2010 85 – Canada 83

An entertaining game to cap off a very good week of basketball. The Canadians jumped to an early lead thanks to their hot shooting, but the Americans were able to stay close and eventually take the lead. The game stayed fairly even to the end, as both teams were able to make big plays down the stretch. Down 2 points with less than 4 seconds on the clock, Cory Joseph took the inbounds pass and got himself a good look at a 3 to win the game, but it wasn’t meant to be. He finished with 33 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while the hot shooting Brady Hesslip finished with 26 points including 6 from beyond the arc. The American side was led by Jared Sullinger who proved he was too much inside enroute to 20 points and 10 rebounds. Joshua Smith, Jordan McRae and Justin Martin all scored in the double digits, going for 11, 10 and 10 respectively.

3RD PLACE GAME

USA 2011 58 – Europe 55

Even though the Europeans played without their leading scorer and best player Evan Fournier, they still battled to the very end, and lost by just 3 points to the very deep and talented Americans. Leading the way for the US was the Dallas native LeBryan Nash, who had a double double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Marquis Teaque also had a good game, going for 12 points and 3 assists. For the losers, Hristo Zahariev battled all night and finished with 16 points and 5 rebounds while Daniele Sandri chipped in 10 points.

5th PLACE GAME

Latin America 62 – Africa 57

Even though this game had a minimal audience, both teams showed that they did not make the journey to Dallas to just enjoy it, but they were there to battle until the end. In a closely fought game, Latin America was able to come out on top with a 5 point victory. Best for Latin America was Devonte Rivera-Smith who had 13 points and 1 rebound, while Ricardo Fischer and Cristian Cortes added 11 and 12 points respectively. For Africa Negueba Samake had 14 points and Badja Sy added 10.
