Terrence Jones And Anthony Davis Named Preseason All-Americans
Posted: Sep 4, 2011 4:40 PM by Mary Jo Perino
Terrence Jones is now a cover boy.
He’s the most prominently featured player on The Sporting News college basketball yearbook, which was just released.
On the inside, The Sporting News names Jones a preseason second team All-American, but one of his teammates is a step up.
The Sporting News named freshman Anthony Davis a first team All-American along with Harrison Barnes of North Carolina, Perry Jones of Baylor, Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger and Jeremy Lamb from UConn.

providencefriars1ParticipantHard to disagree there even though some freshman may be better players or prospects it is really unlikely they would put 3 or so freshman on 1st team All-America.

JNixonParticipantI think Kendall Marshall and Jordan Taylor will have legit shots at All-America status. Particularly Taylor, because he will put up scoring numbers too.Ashton Gibbs will have a legit shot as well, as will John Jenkins at Vandy.
If I had an All-American 1st Team, it would be:
G- Jordan Taylor
G- Jeremy Lamb
F- Harrison Barnes
F- Thomas Robinson
F- Jared Sullinger

omphalosParticipantIt seems that naming freshmen as pre-season All-Americans is a trend that is going to continue. You’d have thought they’d learn their lesson after Harrison Barnes failed to live up to the hype and had freshman struggles. I don’t think Davis should be on this team.

simonkildayParticipantIt is against the odds that Anthony Davis will go from playing the level of high school ball he did last year to playing at a First Team all America all season. He will have his ups and downs like Harrison Barnes last year, but at the end of the day he is still a top 3 pick next year. I think it will be tough for anyone on Kentucky given the amount of talent they have that is so evenly dispersed.
