As I don’t think New York will be getting equal value for Melo in any trade, I think the best they’ll get is some expiring contracts, some young players, a starter quality player and some low level picks (not all of these things, but a combination). If he were to waive his no trade clause to go to San Antonio (I don’t see why not, not much different from Houston as they are a good team and in Texas), could this trade be possible?

Melo and Thomas for Parker, Green, Anderson and maybe a pick.

NY gets rid of Melo and a long term contract in Thomas for an expiring (Parker), decent starter (Green), a young player with potential (Anderson) and a pick. Better than getting Ryan Anderson and scrubs…

Lineup: Parker (Nitkilina), Green (Lee), Hardaway (Anderson), Porzingis (Hernangomez), Noah (O’Quinn)

Spurs get the best player out of the deal, which they will need to contend in the uber talented West. I don’t know if they would trade Parker due to loyality. Sounds like they don’t really want Green there and Anderson was just in there to make the trade appealing to NY (could be any of their young guys that NY is interested in). It would also move Aldridge to the center position, where I believe he should be in nowadays basketball.

Lineup: Mills (Murray), Forbes (Ginobili), Leonard (Thomas), Anthony (Gay), Aldridge (Lauvergne)
