OhCanada-ParticipantI know its just preaseason but its pretty clear that Williamson is going to be unstoppable.
He’s just still way bigger and quicker than everyone. If you can match up with him in size your probably gonna be 7 feet tall so your not gonna be quick enough to stop him. They say length bothers him but I would bet that long defender will be much more bothered by one of Zion’s shoulders hitting him straight in the chest lol.
Even when teams dare him too shot, it wont work. You have to pick this guy up. If you let him get momentum he can just hopstep to whatever spot he gets and as long as he’s 10 feet from the rim he will explode for a layup. Its unreal. Not to mention tonight he made his 3 pointer and did well with his free throws.
Everythings so quick with him too. You cant even gameplan to double him because he will just operate in the post and setup off of movement. Once he catches the ball in motion 15 feet from the basket its one dribble explode and somebody ends up in a life or death situation at the rim lol.
Lately I’ve been on the Morant bandwagon but I mustve forget about my man Zion. This guy is for real. Hes gonna average really stupid numbers we’ve never seen before from a rookie like 23-ppg 70% FG something like that. Hes 19. He’s gonna be one of the greatest ever to play the game seriously.

high floorParticipantNot as a comp. What I mean is Shaq took the league by complete storm as a rookie, as nobody knew how to prepare for such a unique physical force with a high skill level. 2-way impact from the get-go.
Zion wins ROY unanimously unless he goes down (God I hope not……)

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantThe pace that the pelicans play at will benefit him greatly. They aren’t going to run a lot of offense through him in the half court, but he’ll kill it in transition and off of garbage points (offensive rebounds, drop offs, etc. ). I could easily see him averaging 20 a game this season, without even making a high percentage of shots outside the paint. I think he obviously still has a way to go in terms of skill development but that type of athletic ability and motor in that size is pretty much a once in generation type deal (shaq, lebron, etc.) The sky is really the limit for this kid.

BlueRivers25ParticipantThe only question is who joins Zion in the All Star game starting lineup ?
Zion, LeBron, AD, Curry and Harden.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantGentry has done a great job getting him the ball going down hill. This is going to be an incredibly fun rookie year to watch. I think something special is brewing down in Louisiana.

Memphis MadnessParticipantHe’s been an extreme version of the guy we thought he was. Great finisher, can dunk, money from 5-10 feet in, not rebounding great, and will have to find an identity on defense. Solid ball handling/passing. More of a runaway freight train than half court savant.
Next Elgin Baylor?

Memphis MadnessParticipantGood call on the ASG. Zion might even get the most votes.
Luka and Jokic will get a lot of votes too. I could see either guy replacing AD.

cabbycabParticipantYup, agree with OP. I’ve seen enough of him to see that he is going to keep scoring and rebounding like we are used to seeing.
Side note, Lonzo could average 10+ assists this year. His court vision honestly is among the best I’ve ever seen. Up there with Magic and Kidd.

HobbyOGParticipantHis biggest competition is him..gotta stay healthy and keep that weight down..other then that dude is too strong and quick..Like homie said near the beginning of the thread, he’s going to look like Shaq in Orlando…

HitsterParticipantWhen they can spread the floor with Reddick’s shooting then it will certainly open things up for Zion.
I think that Zion and Okafor when they end up on court together will gel, Okafor is a good passer and can lay the ball out to Zion to attack the basket.
I’m looking forward to NOP being a Nellieball team on occasion and having some lob city moments especially to keep Favours and Hayes ticking over. Ball creating for Zion could be like Kidd creating for K-Mart in early 2000’s Nets team. Zion will be fun if he decides to enter the dunk contest too,

MettaWorldDurant1ParticipantI’d disagree about Jhalil Okafor he actually struggles to find teammates , pass out of the post and double teams backed up by the fact that he’s averaged more turnovers than assist every year he’s been in the NBA..Derrick Favos and Jaxon Hayes are much better defenders and more efficient options at this point . Jhlalil is their third big at best

BlueRivers25ParticipantNicolo Melli is the best fit at the 5 next to Zion.
He’s gonna surprise a lot of people.

OhCanada-ParticipantYeah Melli has looked really good. Hes like the Steven Adams of stretch bigs. Just really solid on his fundimentals and does all the little things. Hes gonna make it alot easier for the young players to fit into a system and develop, even in practice.

HitsterParticipantMelli is an interesting call, he has been given a decent contract and has likely turned lucrative offers to stay in Europe. Favours is on the last year of his deal and could of course be bought out so Melli might be the dark horse to see good minutes especially if Hayes needs time to develop.
