    This is interesting as without him they lose a certain advantage in certain match ups.

    Will have to wait to find out the extent of the injury.

    Woj is reporting they fear it’s a torn left quad.

    If it is indeed a torn left quad, which it sounds like it is, I’m afraid it might mean the end for him. It took a year for him to return from a torn Achilles, he showed signs af glimpses of his former self, but now after what may be a torn quad, I’m afraid we might have seen the last of him. Never really liked Cousins that much but I wouldn’t wish this kind of end to a career on my worst enemy.

       A torn quad is just muscular, he’d only be out a month or something

         I was not aware that a torn quad is just muscular. Im not a doctor, but a torn quad sounds serious. Wasn’t Kawhi out for the entire year last year with a quad injury? Not quite sure if it was torn, and there could have been more to do with that because that ended up being his last year with the Spurs, but still this could be more serious than just out for a month or so. Next year could still be a low year for him as well. He might end up staying with the Warriors now, again for another year.

     Don’t wish injuries on no-one.. 

    But this is probably caused by muscle imbalance due to get back so quick from Achilles injury…

    It will be interesting to see what happens to him in F.A..

    Personally hope OKC( as a PF),Phoenix(as a PF) who’s medical staff could maybe help revive his career or Lakers(as a C) take a chance on the guy…Do a two year make good deal for him..

     Sucks to se any of these guys get injured. Boogie passed up $40-mil 2 years for the chance to win/play in the playoffs. He gambled and lost. As for the Warriors, oddly enogh they are proobably better with him out.

    The was part is not only this might have significant consequences for his career, this was bis first play-off experience ever. 9 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 turnovers and fould out in 21 mins. Torns his quad after 3 minutes into his 2nd NBA playoff game.

    Ouch that hurts man. 

    Wasn‘t Kawhis injury the same of had he torn (also?) his tendon?

     That’s terrible to hear and I wonder how it impacts his future. Short of a known long term injury, ending the season hurt is as bad as it could get for DeMarcus Cousins.

    I feel for Cousins. He missed his chance to play in the playoffs last season due to the torn Achilles.

    After working his ass off and making a comeback, he tears his quad in his first playoff appearance smh. 

    I think I read somewhere they’re still determing the severity of the injury and that he won’t need surgery, but I’d be shocked if he came back. 

    He’s starting to remind me of Derrick Rose in regards to being unlucky with these injuries.

      Difference is Rose was taken care of financially before his injury woes. $95 million Bulls extension + the $185 million shoe deal. Big Cuz bet on himself last summer and lost out on what could’ve been one more solid payday. He’s now gonna be stuck taking another short-term low $ deal and may not ever recoup the $40 million NOP offered him if the injuries continue.

     Cousins at least got a good 2nd contract after a nice rookie deal so he hasn’t totally missed out on big pay days. Guys like Ish Thomas was very unlucky whilst ironically Gordon Hayward was injured in his first regular season game after inking a mega deal.

    Does anyone know if a team could offer him less money for next season but then have the following years much higher if he reached certain benchmarks?
     

    My other option for him would be to remain a free agent and if he say got back say halfway through next season then look to hop onto the best option available. If he was fit then a load of teams would create a roster space for him. 

    Whilst injuries could slow him down he can still have a serviceable NBA player as a starter on a strong team, he can rebound and be a defensive presence and has a good 3 point range for a man his size so would be a nice shooting option on offence and he’d still have his post moves and a top PG could keep him ticking over with easy baskets too.
