I know there’s been tons of Ben Simmons threads that have been posted, and there’s one already posted that you can click on below this post. But, I want to touch on the "fake" Ben Simmons outrage going to his character being atacked, game getting slandered, and his school problems being mocked. I get if you want to judge him based on his game, but their’s tons of people that slandering him for the wrong reasons and I find it unforunate and ridiculous.

I don’t try to judge players off their character because I’ve never met the person, even met the person. I find it baffling that people are judging this kid based on character because they never met the kid or they don’t know him personally. Saying that he have a bad character and you wouldn’t draft him because of his character is ludicrous due to the fact that most, if not all, never met the person.

Going back to his game and his draft stock, I would still take him number one over Brandon Ingram. Yes, LSU was trash this year and he didn’t go to March Madness. But, his team is pure trash and so is his coach. The offense that the Tigers run is totally unwatchable. Players just sit and wait to see what amazing thing that Ben Simmons does next or Tim Quarterman/Antonio Blakeney jack up unnecesary shots. If he went to Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State, Kansas, etc… that wouldn’t been a problem. This is a guy that was the only player in SEC history to be in the top 5 in points, rebounds, and assist. He also put up 19-11-5 daily.

If you judge him based off of his weaknesses as a player, go right at it. But, don’t judge a guy that you never met in your lifetime because you don’t know what type of person he is off of the internet. For what it’s wroth, most people that have sat down and interviewed him, waved about his character.

I don’t have to meet someone to have questions about their character. You’re naive.

Not being able to get a 2.0 GPA with tutors, with resources, with study hall, etc. SHOWS you didn’t give a sh*t at all. THAT IS POOR CHARACTER.

I don’t care if you’re in school for 1 year, if I am drafting a player to potentially build my franchise, I want a worker. I want a worker in ALL AREAS OF LIFE. Giving their all and doing their best in all areas of life. Not half-a$$ing anything.

That is exactly what Ben Simmons did. It would be one thing if he was academically challenged and that was the best he could. That is obviously not the case, he can do much better on and off the court, and willfully chose not to. That is troubling, disappointing, and screams brat (he reacted like a child when he didn’t start that one game, and visibly played like he was pouting by not giving his all).

On top of that, I really am not in love with his game. I have said probably a better version of Lamar Odom. We shall see. It’s so easy to guard him in the half court it’s hilarious. If he didn’t have such an obvious apparent weakness in his game, I’d probably be higher on him. But on top of his off the court antics, there are still major questions about his shot. That’s just my opinion.

      1.  Uh, you kind of do need to know someone more than seeing him on TV for 2 hours and read some "reports" to be able to judge a player character, wouldn’t you think? You can’t honestly be able to know the person by just looking at his body languarge and reading reports that he didn’t meet the critiria to be a Wooden finalist.
      2. So, you are making this correlation, not having a 2.0 grade point average in first year of college = poor character. You seem so naive to what you want your college/nba athlete to be. Not everyone is the Mr. Goodboy that follows the naive stereotype you set for athletes. That’s one reason why you can’t judge people w/o knowing the person and being with said person.
      3.  To your point about him "half-assing shit", this is much to the point when people always talk about if someone have any "heart" and acting like they know what exactly how hard a player is working. You are acting like a body language expert in this matter. The truth is you couldn’t possibly know if he was "half-assing shit" because you are not him. And even if he was "half-assing shit" I would completly understand his frustration. He’s the only one that is playing and he’s the only person that seems to care on the team.
      4. Going further into "MY MODERN ATHLETE HAVE TO FIT THIS TYPE OF PERSON THAT I WANT HIM TO BE". Everybody knows that lots of one and done athletes skip out on class. Stop trying to act like it does not exist. You want athletes to fit your perception to what they are in your mind. Skipping class does not reflect on someone character because most of America does it and I won’t condemn Simmons because lots of one and done players done it in the past and he only going to be in school for 6 months.

You are seriously coming up with excuse after excuse for this dude. Just stop. It’s annoying and ridiculous.

Getting a 2.0 GPA doesn’t make you a good ole boy. You’re praising Ben Simmons because he didn’t do the stereotypical thing and try the tiniest bit in college to get a 2.0? Well you go on ahead and praise that. If you think that makes him unique that’s just sad.

And yes, that does mean he half assed it. I still think people fail to realize how easy a 2.0 is given athletic resources.

Keep defending him though. I love when people defend brats.

No, I am in fact not a family member, just a guy that doesn’t judge a guy based off what I see 2 hours out of a day, if that. I, in fact, did not make any excuses for him. He have poor grades, get over it. He’s not the first person to get poor grades. If poor grades = horible human being + brat, then tons of people in America is just that. Those two have no correlation.

And I’m not praising Simmons for not fitting in your box in what you believe a athlete/student-athlete is. I’m stating an widely known opinion. I completly understand his frustration due to the fact that he is the only player that seems to be good on the team and the team just stand around to see what he does next. It takes a toll on players that have to carry a team  and that team not in the Big Dance.
