     I always thought he had talent but just was not given enough opportunity by the Sixers.  I am still surprised other nba teams didn’t want him – maybe they did and we just didn’t hear about it.

    Anyway he has returned home to Turkey, he can be a star, be around friends and family for the same sort of money just play half as many games and alot less travel than in the nba.

    The good news for Korkmaz is that Fenerbahçe is one of the more respected and accomplished organizations in Europe. They’ve produced some notable NBA names such as Nemanja Bjelica, Bogdan Bogdanović and Bojan Bogdanović, to name a few. Maybe they can further develop Korkmaz to a point where he is able to make a return to the NBA*. Furkan will turn just 22-years-old next month. Hey, I’m just sayin’.

     

    *Eurohoops.net recently reported that Korkmaz’s priority is to remain in the NBA. I’m unclear of the exact nature of this agreement between Korkmaz and Fenerbahçe, but it’s possible that at this point in time, it is only a verbal agreement and Korkmaz will continue seeking an NBA deal for at least a few weeks, only joining Fenerbahçe as a worst-case scenario.

     Really think he should stay. Imagine if he went to a team like Cleveland or Atlanta. After spending all that time in Philly getting zero chances to flourish and playing behind amazing players like JJ Redick and Jimmy Butler, you put this kid in a rebuilding situation and treat him like a 1st round pick development wise he could at least end up a Bellinelli type player. 

    Someone should offer him a 3 year $12 million dollar option and try to get a steal here.

       Yes i would of thought there would of been at least half a dozen teams willing to take a chance on him – like you said atlanta, cleveland. Orlando, detroit, memphis, washington

       It’s not fair to say Korkmaz had zero chances with Philly. He got chances. He struggled defensively often and his shot wasn’t falling from time to time. He was hitting a good stride last year, but then he got hurt and James Ennis claimed all the backup wing minutes. Korkmaz definitely belongs in the NBA, but this isn’t the first guy we’ve seen who’d rather be a star at home instead of a rotational piece in the NBA.

         I read he actually wants to go back to the NBA.  He wasn’t given enough chance with Phillie.

        He is young, only 21 so he would be a junior in college.  

        Being young you need a good 2-3 seasons of 15-20 mins a night to develop. Phillie have had so many draft picks they just couldn’t give each one enough time.

        He was 19 and raw, of course he needed time to develop, if they wanted someone to contribute straight away they should of drafted a 4 year player like malcolm brogdon who i had going late frist round.

    He is still fairly young. He could go back home for 2 years and develop his game before coming back to the NBA.
    I don’t think this is a bad move for him tbh

     Really hate this for Korkmaz.  Riding the sixers bench for next 2 years.

    I can’t believe he didn’t get any other nba offers !

     

    Furkan Korkmaz has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the 76ers.

     

    Earlier this summer it was reported that Korkmaz had agreed to a contract to return to Fenerbahce of Turkey, but perhaps that was just a verbal commitment ala Marcus Morris. Korkmaz is unlikely to see minutes outside the teens with the 76ers next year, so he can’t be considered a viable target in most formats.
