Dlo to the Warriors

 Warriors going to go for the 3 guard lineup with all great shooters, Klay guards the Sf, they going even smaller with the small ball

Memphis is absorbing Iggy’s contract to allow the Warriors to stay under the hard cap.  In exchange they get a 2024 protected Warriors 1st.  

Wow . . .  Crazy. He’ll be a great fit in that offense.

 Russell is a good shooter but definitely not knock down which is why I envision Curry playing primarly off ball when they are in together. DLO somewhat like Harden needs the ball in his hands to be effective. One thing for sure is that the backcourt will be attrocious defensively but in today’s NBA that’s par for the course. 

Dropping ties with Iggy seems cold and un-Warriors like. He’s also still really good, as we saw in the finals when he had to pick up the scoring slack for KD and Klay.

But if he’s going to Brooklyn in a sign-and-trade, he may end up on the better team with the better future …

 This makes the Jordan Poole pick look absolutely ridiculous.

I had no idea Ayesha worked in the front office, but I guess she got her mole in the locker room.

This move doesn’t make sense to me.  

Iggy worked in GS because they didn’t need him to do anything at the offensive end. But I really don’t think they would have been very successful with him, Green, Curry and the countless back-up guys on the roster.

With Russell they have some offensive firepower. They’ll be okay until Thompson comes back and when he does they might be a contender at some point in the future.

The key to them keeping it going is one or two of those young guys becoming a player. Looney, Quinn, some of those guys played well at times in the playoffs but they will neeed to take a big step forward IMO.

GSW make a great counter move and D-Lo gets onto a powerhouse team. With Klay out they just go with Russell and Curry in backcourt and then a 3 guard line up when Klay returns.

They shipped out Barnes and Bogut to get KD, so have done the same with Iggy. I always felt Iggy and Livingston may be flipped eventually to save money and their roles filled by ring chasing min vets.

Iggy will be a good locker room leader for Memphis and they can always buy him out, flip him to a contender.

Who really saw that coming, wow.

Have to say I‘m a little bit pissed the Warriors find always ways to improve the roster with high talent and big contracts but kudos to Meyers for managing that. Their payroll and tax bill will be tremendous especially if they extend Draymond but they said multiple time they were willing to to this and I‘m sure they also offered KD the max before he decided to leave.

Losing Iggy will really hurt them defensively in the long run. Sure Klay can guard the opposing SFs but a D-Lo – Curry backcourt is terrible defensively. Keep in mind that Klay won’t be as good/reliable/durable from day one once he comes back and might need to focus on offense first to get back into the groove.

KD was also incredibly important to they overall defense and he really improved or showed way more defensive commitment since leaving OKC. Kerr has to do some magic to kelp their defense on a top level and I‘m curious to see if they can survive in today’s NBA being way more of a offensive team. I know they always have been the offensive juggernaut but have been a top tier defensive team the past years too which might change now drastically. 

 D’Angelo Russell to the Warriors is likely the most surprising deal of the day. I hadn’t heard any rumors about this and I was expecting Russell to go to the Lakers or Timberwolves.

I’m hearing that D’Lo is on the move from the Warriors to…. somewhere else. Right before the move, Karl Anthony Towns posted the words “Loading” on his page.

This makes me think D’Lo will be traded to the Wolves. For whom? Contract-wise Andrew Wiggins lines up. If you wanted to replace Iguodala, Wiggins might make some sense. Maybe the Warriors can teach him championship ways.
