    This is an odd situation as Philly would like to keep Butler. But if Butler doesn’t want to stay, they don’t want to lose him for nothing. Which means they’d probably be game for a sign and trade with Houston.

    The next kicker is that they have to find a 3rd team to take some of the contracts from Houston as Philly doesn’t want them all. Sounds like the 3 players would be Gordon, Tucker and Capela, who are all starting worthy players. I feel like Philly might want to keep Gordon to replace Redick. Possibly keep Tucker if they don’t sign Harris. Capela isn’t needed when you have Embiid. So in reality, you’re looking for a team with cap space that needs a center.

    Teams that fit that criteria: Sacramento, Clippers, Dallas and Boston. 

    I feel like it would be stupid to not step up and take on these Houston players as you’d be pretty much getting them for nothing. This would be a huge trade that would alter the rankings within the league.

    it might not be a good basketball deal for Philly. Gordon covers for Simmon’s lack of a jumper, but he’s already 30. Embiid has a habit of alternating between being dominant and being injured. The loss of Jimmy and Redick would be huge.

      I didn’t say losing Redick and Butler wouldn’t be a loss.. But if Butler won’t resign with Philly, would it not be best to get something in return for him?

      Also, replacing a 35 year old Redick with a 30 year old Gordon seems pretty fair.

        why facilitate this just to make yourself a lesser basetball team. You were a 2nd round out this year (admittedly, on the luckiest buzzer beater ever) but you don’t even get that far with Gordon/Tucket etc.

          I think a few things have to happen for this sign and trade to even be a thought. First, Butler has to say he won’t resign in Philly. Secondly, he’ll need a team with cap room to offer him a big contract. Thirdly, Butler will then have to say he’d rather play in Houston than the team that offered him the contract.

          I really don’t know the likelihood of this, but that’s the scenario that needs to happen for this to occur. Then Philly would choose to get something for him rather than him leave for nothing.

     You can’t lose him for nothing to the Rockets. They have no cap space. Butler would litterally need to get a another team willing to sign him, then use that for leverage.

    Have we heard anything for Butler? Like this whole thing sounds like what the Rockets are hoping can happen. It’s crazy unlikely.

    If I’m the Sixers and Butler says Sign and trade or I walk then do it.  Stack up Redick, Gordon, Tucker and try to land Beverly or Ross or Marcus Morris.  DO NOT THROW MAX MONEY AT HARRIS

     Chris Paul and Jimmy Butler on the same team – I give them till the all-star break before they butting heads….

    2 guys with attitudes, just aint going to work, especially when Harden is so ball dominant.  Butler with houston just won’t work

     The idea that the Rockets are going to make a bunch of trades is absurd. Chris Paul wants a trade. He had to walk that back when he found out no one wanted him at that price tag. Clint Capela: same problem. Very good players, but only a couple guys in this league are worth those dollars. The Rockets really want Jimmy Butler and they think they can will that to happen through the media. Nope. Not happening. They’re going to have to run out the same lineup next year.

    If Philly could get Gordon then it effectively goes like for like with Reddick if he moved on. Tucker could be a good fit for Philly too.

    Capella would be a good fit in Atlanta, Sacramento, Memphis etc.

    I don’t think that is a good idea fo the rockets since Butler needs the ball also, What he gonna do? just stand in the corner and wait for harden to dribble the ball 99 times before step bakcing and pulling up. He might punch Harden and might fight with cris paul
