     He picks up his $25.6M Player Option. Is this a sign that Kawhi Leonard will return to Toronto? Marc said he will only return if that’s the case.

     I think it is more of he knew he would get nowhere close to that in the open market.

     Marc has a huge salary for next year and unless the Raptors stumped up a large 2 year deal worth say $35 to $40 million, he was always going to opt in IMO. I don’t think they would have considered anything longer than 2 years given he turns 35 early next year and opting in brings back him, Lowry and Ibaka all for the final year of their deals.

    I personally think that Kawhi will resign for 3 years with 3rd year a player option. This way he will be in place when the Raps have cap space next summer to attract a younger running mate. But he would have an out in 2021 if things weren’t working, it gets him to 10 year vet status to get biggest deal possible and makes him an FA at 30 so he’d be a hugely attractive option for a lot of teams.

     Folks in Memphis r saying the basketball gods r Shining bright on the city right now! The Grizzlies drafting Morant & Clarke.  Penny brought in the nation number 1 recruiting class. And Marc winning a ring!

    Marc Gasol like Mike Conley gave great service to Memphis but I was delighted that Marc got a title to at least stop big brother bragging and Mike has got a move to a contending team. Memphis will have been sad to lose both but they are rebuilding now and have a new potential star pairing in JJJ and Morant.
