The NBA draft is my favorite holiday of the year, the trade deadline being the second. What do you wish for your team to have?

For Portland, if there was a way we could acquire Caris LeVert, Bojan Bogdanovic (Sacramento), Robert Covington, Otto Porter, or Chandler Hutchison, while shedding Evan Turner and our first rounder, I’d backflip my way into the nearest bar in Manhattan. I’m not convinced Portland needs to draft some player since the draft is hit or miss and I’m not convinced any player fits our needs perfectly.

Some players we could shoot for are Louis King, KZ, Chuma, and otherwise I’d rather trade the pick away and get some upperclassmen in the second round (Dedric Lawson, for example) who could probably take less time to develop and give us immediate results.

    Thoughts?

Portland’s salary is maxed out. And Need to resign Aminu, and Kanter. Maybe Hood.  Portland needs to swing for the fences at SF position.

i’m completely happy with no picks in this draft.  i hope nuggets opt out of milsap’s contract and they restructure for $10M per – 2 years or something like that.  use $10-15M on milsap’s future replacement that has stretch 4 capabilities like mirotic or portis.

i think we need to try to package barton and morris for someone like dennis schroeder to alleviate our depth issues while bringing in a positional upgrade.  morris really struggled in the playoffs even though he has a cheap contract that teams would be interested in.

lastly, we hope porter stays healthy and lives up to hype.  also, we continue to develop vanderbilt who looks like an interesting prospect as heir apparent to torrey craig.

jokic, milsap, craig, harris, murray – 1st unit

plumlee, mirotic/portis, porter, beasley, schroeder – 2nd unit

Don’t want Otto Porter Contract (another noose around the salary cap neck) or Hutchison (showed little in Chicago when given the chance).  Would love Clarke from Gonzaga (energy!) or Thybulle from Washington (defense!) giving them what they have little of after dumping Ed Davis. Of course, bad drafting leaves them with a combo guard need as well as a scoring small forward. Can’t wait for year after next when Leonard, Turner and Harkless are gone. Aminu works as a backup, should never start, he is not strong enough to start at PF or small ball C and is too inconsistent to play SF. Happy to see him walk as a FA. Jerome from Virginia is a good pick to be the third guard amd can run the club. Hoping they buy an early second round pick, there are lots of SF in this draft to take a chance on.

I see Portland picking Grant Williams or Eric Paschall if they keep the pick.
