    Good deal for both teams

Conley is a major upgrade over Rubio & is the perfect point guard to pair next to Mitchell. The Jazz should be very good next season. Conley is 100% healthy too.

The Grizzlies are rebuilding, so the 23rd pick, a future first & a young player with upside in Allen are a solid haul.

Then they have plenty of options with both Korver & Crowder. Both are on expiring deals with only $3.4 million of Korver’s contract being guaranteed if waived before mid July I think.

Good trade for both teams..I would of tried to make the Grizzles to take on Dante Exum terrible contract.

Ironically at the deadline the rumor was that the Grizzlies wanted Exum but the Jazz refused.

"Utah’s final offer to the Grizzlies for Mike Conley, per @Tjonesonthenba on the show: First-round pick, second-round pick, and expirings, dollar for dollar. Grizzlies asked for Exum and were told no."

A little bit sad to see Conley being shipped out of Memphis and it wasn’t really much value the Grizzlies gained if you consider he had his best season ever but for sure his hefty contract is played a big part in this.

I still think Crowder is a solid player and should help the youngsters develop. Korver might be released and could end up on a team like the depleted Warriors. Don’t know what to think of Allen yet. He might be a borderline NBA player and could have trouble staying in the league if he doesn’t play significant minutes going forward on a bad team like the Grizz or could end up playing 25 minutes and earning himself a nice rookie contract extension if he delivers and shows more than athletism.

Overall both teams got what they were looking for and it‘s interesting to see what trading a player of Conleys caliber can net you when a player like CP3 doesn’t get any calls at all at this stage with his contract being attached to him. Read multiple times not only one team showed interest in him even if it would just be a salary dump move like CP3 for nothing trade.

Conley’s best year was 2016-17 but he did play well this year for a bad team. I like the move for both teams because the Jazz needed another guard that can score and take some pressure off of Mitchell. They didn’t give up a ton with the two first rounders being the most valuable but likely they both will be in the 20+ range.

Utah has trouble attracting major free agents so this trade was probably the biggest upgrade they could get. I don’t think Allen will be more than bench guard that can get hot occassionally. If Memphis hits with the draft picks and gets some more young talent to add to Morant and JJJ they will be on their way to a successful rebuild.

The grizzlies get out of conleys deal and now can enter fully into rebuild mode. The package of players they got in return is not that valuable but they at least pick up a first rounder this year and in the future.

The jazz are no doubt going all in for a shot at the finals next year with this move, as the west appears to be open for the first time in years. My guess is we’ll likely see a lot of other potential contenders in the west following suit in the coming weeks.

It looks like a good deal for both teams. I was curious to see what Mike Conley’s trade value would be. He was worth slightly less than I imagined, but considering his age, injury history, and contract it makes sense.

Wonder where Rubio ends up and for what kind of money. Lakers oviously need a PG. If Kemba leaves Charlotte, Rubio could help make the best of all the big-men stiffs the Hornets are stuck with. If Milwaukee loses Brogdon and/or Hill, would he sign for cheap to try and win a title with the Bucks? Could he and Bledsoe co-exist? Rubio creating for Giannis and all those shooters would be scary.

For this year’s first, and the 3 players, I think it was a good deal for both teams. However, when you add the "future first round" choice to the equation, I think that swings the deal heavily in favor of Memphis. Of course we don’t yet know the value of that future first draft choice, but we know Utah already gave up this year’s first rounder.

Giving up 2 first round draft choices (with those 3 players) was a lot for 31 year old Mike Conely.

This will really help Utah. The games where Rubio was a threat offensively they were tough to beat. They really needed another guy that could create offense because in the playoffs teams could just load up o Mitchell.

Grizzlies seems have rushed  this trade. Possibly could’ve waited and got a better deal. . Grit & Grind officially over. But as a Grizzlies fan I’m hyped and excited for the future. U never get equal value in return when u trade a star player. But korver & Crowder r 2 assets u can use I. Another trade. And Grayson was a player they were high on.

Griz slowly getting a good core of young players that probably have needed more opportunity or luck.

I think that Memphis have got a decent return for Conley and have saved a ton of salary so if they are in rebuild they will have cap space to take on salary dumps for extra assets. I may say this a lot but it is common sense and gives them a ready option to add more assets.

The first rounders may not be great but it gives Memphis options and they have got a useful young piece in Allen. Crowder is a good experienced head to have on a young team or could possibly be flipped if a contender is looking for a solid support piece.

Korver is a no-brainer buy out. They create even more cap space and whilst Korver would be a great veteran presence to have about, at 38 he surely deserves to be on a contender. He is still an elite shooter so would be a no brainer vet min or slightly above as a bench shooter for any contender wanting 15 odd mpg when required. Plus he has always been very durable so isn’t seen as an injury risk.

It’s really interesting to see how certain guys evaluate a trade like this so differently than I do. Memphis will receive 5 players, including a pair of First Round draft choices, for a 31 year old point guard and you guys think Utah got a better deal. Amazing!

I’ve always admired Conley, I think he’s an excellent NBA point guard and a good guy. Utah will probably be a very good fit for him. (by the way, didn’t he have a serious injury recently?).  But the payback for Memphis, depending upon who those two first round draft choices turn out to be, could be immense over the next couple of years. Today, those draft choices are obviously an unknown variable, so it’s hard to make a clear cut comparison. But I’m talking about long term potential for Memphis, I don’t see that same potential for Utah.

Utah wasn’t in this deal for long term potential they are trying to win now. They see the road to a potential Western Conference title opening. This deal only makes the Jazz better this year and they were sneaky good last year. I see them with home court in the first round for sure.

In order for them to attract any free agents they will have to prove themselves as true contenders but I think they will do that this year. So maybe it is risky giving up two picks in the 20’s for a 31 year old PG. That is really all they gave up though. Korver will be bought out. Crowder isn’t the same player he was in Boston. Allen will likely always be a bench player.

Conley is a borderline top 10 PG in the league. He proved enough last season to say that he is back from his injury. I like this move a lot for the Jazz and predict that Conley has his best year yet and is finally an all star his first year in Utah.

I completely agree with everything Sewok15 said about Conley  being a top 10 PG and why Utah made the deal, but that doesn’t change my opinion. If I were Memphis, I would trade a 31 year old PG (whom I think recently had a serious foot injury) every day of the week.

Memphis will receive a pair of First Round Draft choices, plus 3 other guys who could really change the dynamics and quality of their team. By the way, wasn’t Grayson Allen a 1st round draft choice this year?  He barely played, so I don’t know what his long term value, if any, is. But I still think he has the potential to be a very good player.

In sum, both teams get what they want, but I happen to think Memphis will potentially wind up with a lot more. And if Conley doesn’t fully recover from his foot injury, this could turn out be a one sided trade in favor of Memphis.

Utah paid too much for this.

Conley was really only worth a late first rounder, if that. Sources say they wanted two first rounders, Detroit would only offer them one.

Grayson Allen was a first round pick last season, so essentially they get 3 first rounders.

Jae Crowder is a handy player, he would be useful come playoff time.  Even if they didn’t want him, I am sure a contender would of given them at least a second rounder for him.

So 3 first rounders and a second rounder or Crowder is too much with an aging Conley and his contract.

David Aldridge: Memphis, per sources, will listen to offers on the first-rounder (23rd) acquired in the Conley deal. And, protections on the future first from Utah: -Pick will convey to Memphis is 2020 or 2021 if it falls between 8-14 -if it doesn’t, protected 1-6 in ‘22,, 1-3 in ‘23, 1 in ‘24.

This future pick could be the best asset they get from this deal. This pick won’t convey until 2022 and by than Conley will be off the books and with one injury of Mitchell or Gobert, this could be late lottery pick

It also seems Memphis structured the deal in a way that created a HUGE 29M TPE. Whiteside + #13 for the TPE anyone?
