Knicks considering Garland at 3?

Per Jon Givony the Knicks will be working out Darius Garland tomorrow at their team facility in Tarrytown, and he is in strong consideration for the Knicks at the #3 pick. Also mentioned that Minnesota, Boston, and Chicago are looking to trade up to #4 to draft Garland.

I am a Knicks fan, and I actually really like Garland. His shooting ability on the Knicks would be a welcome addition. BUT I just can’t see why the Knicks would pass on a player of RJ Barrett’s caliber without being compensated for it. Could there be a trade in the works perhaps between New Orelans and the Knicks? New Orleans has been said to have been interested in pairing Barrett with Zion. Or could this be some sort of smoke-screen?

Or…. could this just be the Knicks being the Knicks? Thoughts?

I’m surprised Boston was mentioned among the teams interested in getting up to #4 to take Garland. I have no idea how they would get there without having to trade a combination of Jaylen and multiple 1sts.

    Personally I wouldn’t do it because I believe JB will be able to blossom more if the team is turned over to him and Jayson next year. The idea of adding Garland to Jaylen and Jayson is something that’s more intriguing but I don’t think there’s a reasonable trade package to get there.

Seems like typical Knicks dumb move to do, maybe Pelicans saw a chance for this happened and that why they valued the forth pick so much , somehow they could be left with RJ Barrett

IF Knicks take Garland then Pelicans may trade the 4th for 8th and 10th to the Hawks..

If Jaylen Brown is packaged with the #14 for any pick (bar #1) I’d be taking it.

Smokescreen, they’ll take Barrett and that’s it.

On the other hand i’m not surprised if garland is taken 4th, as i said earlier when he was still the lakers pick, half the league could use him, bet on him, he’s the only player worth trading up.

He can play any role for your team, PG, lead guard, off guard if you already have star power, high usage players.

Still hoping he falls to 6th, suns keep him and sign a rubio type in free agency, he steal the job in year 2 prettty easily and early.

If the Knicks are desperate for a PG then Memphis could do worse than see what the Knicks would give them to move up to 2 to take Morant. I still expect Memphis to take Morant but it is worth seeing what the Knicks might offer.

If Knicks did take Garland at 3 then NOP would love to take RJ at 4. A starting 5 of Lonzo, Holiday, RJ, Ingram and Zion would be a fun smallball team.

If the Knicks are keen on Garland then they should give NOP a call and see if they want to flip picks – NOP get RJ and Knicks get Garland. NOP could throw in Hart or one of the other future Lakers picks.
