jrrider_34ParticipantThe Mavericks trade a protected 2014 draft pick , Chris Kaman (1 year left at 8 million), O.J. Mayo (2 Years at 4 million) and Dominique Jones (1 year left at 1.3 million) to the Utah Jazz for Al Jefferson (1 year left at 15 million), Randy Foye (1 year at 2.5 million) and one of Utah’s first round picks this year.
Utah gets a very good 2 guard on a reasonable deal, Chris Kaman’s expiring contract (who is still a good NBA big, and could mesh well with the fans, front court and lifestyle in Utah), the throwaway Dominique Jones Salary and a first round pick in a much deeper draft, while Dallas gets Jefferson, who is both the low post compliment to Nowitzki they’ve always wanted, a huge expiring contract in case they decide to blow everything up, and a great potential sign and trade chip in case Dwight decides he wants out of L.A. They also get Randy Foye, whose on a one year deal and is a feasible replacement for Mayo on the perimeter for Dallas, as well as the additional pick in this years first round.
Thoughts?

Sewok15ParticipantInteresting thought but Mayo is playing so well and is such a bargain it is hard to trade him at this point unless you are getting a superstar. Since he is making only 4 million it makes sense to keep him and try to sign a high price FA in the off season. Most of the Mavs are on the last year of their contracts so I wouldn’t trade for Mayo for Jefferson who only has 1 year left and is sure to make way over 4 million next season.

jrrider_34ParticipantYeah, Mayo was the potential wrench in my plan. He is playing sensationally well, and if the Mavericks are interested in building another title contender around Nowitzki, they need his dynamic offense.
