Big signing for the Knicks I think. Assuming he starts (so JR can be 6th man) I think he’ll help out tremendously. Still a top 5-10 perimeter defender easily, and a good slasher.

I mean once Shumpert returns from his knee injury he’ll resume the starting spot

I think this is an ok signing, but once Shumpert is back I see Shumpert startng at the 2 while JR Smith plays big minutes off the bench. I see Brewer as more of a backup for Anthony at the 3, splitting time with Novak depending on whether they need a shooter or a defender based  on who’s on the floor.

I don’t see him getting a ton of pt after Shumpert comes back, unless they play some small lineups with Anthony and Stoudamire at the 4 and 5 for some short stretches.

I’m settled in and I feel comfortable with the coaches and everybody around me. We have a great staff here and I’m really happy to be here at this point. … Since 2008 I played with Dirk on the German national team even though I’m not very German. I think I have some ancestors somewhere down the line. I’ve been very comfortable during the offseason and the summer participating with him at the different events. I knew from conversations with him the kind of guy Mark was and Coach Carlisle that this would be a great place to play.”

“I was obviously disappointed about the way July started, first Deron (Williams) didn’t come and then J-Kidd and Jet left, obviously two warriors that have been through a lot of stuff with me and we won the championship together, so they were like brothers to me.

The next three remaining preseason games will be very hectic to deal with, with all of them being completed in a four-day stretch until Miami opens up the season against the Boston Celtics on October 30.

“We’re a really talented, young team,” Granger said. “Our starting five is really good. Just with who we brought in, the guys on the bench, we can be a very strong team and it’s just a matter of us believing that. When we win, we can’t let that get to our heads, not let the success of last year get to our heads, but we have to realize that we still have a long ways to go.”

Calipari has gotten four commitments over the course of the last three weeks, and each and every one of those commitments has been by a high school players ranked among the top fifteen prospects in the country. That includes Andrew and Aaron Harrison, Texan twins ranked third and fourth among high school players, as well as James Young (#8) and Marcus Lee (#15).

“(Beal) allowed guys to kind of dictate to him defensively with shoving and pushing and guys are going to try and do that,” Wittman said. “If they find out what kind of player you are, they are going to get into you. They are going to push you, hold you and do those things and until he got (expletive) off there at the end about it, he kind of just accepted it. He has to make sure he doesn’t allow those things to happen.”

In hindsight, that exchange appeared to be venting from Wade, whose troublesome left knee had to be drained during that Pacers series and eventually required minor offseason surgery that forced him to miss the 2012 London Olympics. He has since been deemed fully healthy and has taken the court in multiple preseason games.

“It’s been a pretty hectic week,” Spoelstra said. “He has logged some time this preseason, mainly practice time. I just want to make sure he’s fresh for next week. Next week is an important week.”

“In Michael’s case, the teams that he’s been with, obviously he’s had some bright spots,” Gentry said. “He’s averaged 19 points in this league, you got to be a pretty good player to do that. So I think with him, what we’re trying to search and find is the consistency of doing that night in and night out.”

The Miami Heat are planning to limit LeBron James‘ minutes as much as possible for this year’s preseason so he can be ready to go for the regular season. It’s apparent that James has been gassed out this summer with the NBA Finals and then a little weeks rest until two months filled with Olympics basketball.

The other part is you just can’t make a three and give up a three at the other end every possession. He is learning, believe me. This doesn’t mean Terrence Ross is not going to play for us or not a part of it. He is going to be big for us. He is our future, but right now he is just a typical rookie and you could stop every play for him [to teach]. He is learning.”
