joecheck88ParticipantBoth were outstanding freshman in college, and then went to the pros. So who will be better when both careers are over Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Durant? And is Melo better than Kobe on the offensive end or if not better, more gifted?

eprizzle14ParticipantDurant or Melo could end up close but I’ll say Melo will have the better career not for any particular reason. But Kobe is better offensively because he’s just smarter, makes better decisions, shoots high percentage shots (takes a few bad one’s too but 80% of his shots have a shot at going in), better ball handler, creater. Melo’s game is smooth but it took me to this year to realize he’s not really that explosive, I mean he’s no slouch but not a freak. He’s got a finesse type game, that said I’ll take Kobe because he’s a better phasilatator. (sp)

QHaynes123Personally, I think after Lebron takes over as best player and Kobe declines Durant will be the 2nd best player in the NBA. Melo is good but he lacks that drive on D and he maybe pass the age to get it.
Durant will win a least 2-4 rings. I expect him to be the new face the NBA advertises this season,
Melo i think wins 1.0 -

wowthisisneatParticipantCan do so much more on either end with a little more refinement. He is still so young and can improve so much more.

NYKnicksuperFanParticipant30 years from now basketball historians will hear the word Carmelo and the first thing theyll think of is that draft class and theyll compare Melo to Lebron and Wade, damaging his legacy( think Scottie Pippen), while Durant will be remembered for his own accomplishments

Johnny_HazeltineParticipantMelo will be compared to Wade, and especially LeBron, while Durant’s comparisons will center around Oden. All that being said, both are heading down the HOF road, but if where building a franchise, I would take Durant, so that’s my answer.

bujubantonParticipantDurant he’s only going to get better he does everything offensively so well, he looks taller than 6-10 but I could be wrong he just looks to good to be true sometimes. He’s what Lamar Odom should of been, I think if his game keeps improving he might be the only person who can go toe to toe with the King James in playoff series in coming years. It’s only a matter of time before he starts shooting contested threes like layups and that’s scary.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think Durant will be better than Melo too and that is not taking anything from Melo but Durant is just that talented. Once he gets his post game going I will say he Rashard Lewis plus and I think he is a more natural scorer than Lewis and also Lewis is sometime inconsistent.

nthegoodlifeParticipantIs so young and so talented. He has the ability to go down as one of the most dominant offensive players ever.

Dr.RedParticipantare we talking a measure of individual accomplishments or their impact on their teams play…
Melo has an immediate impact on his teams win-loss record. Durant hasn’t led his teams to anything yet.
Melo won in college. Durant didn’t!
Durant has more potential and has a great offensive game. He does not make his teammates better, though. He needs to be surrounded by a strong and talented supporting cast to have a shot at the playoffs.
give Melo 4-5 quality role players and they make the playoffs. give him someone like Billups and they could win the whole thing… the big knock on Melo is his attitude. If he had LeBron’s demeanor he’d be a top 3 player for sure…0 -

joecheck88Participantdoes anyone think durant could avg 30 ppg and 10 rpg in a season? also i think that earlier this year melo and kd hit some big shots against each other. do u think these guys could have a rivalry that will let people forget melo & lebron? it could be second best rivalry behind dwade and lebron(which i think is better than kobe and lebron).

kotyParticipantQHaynes and dwad both think Durant will win 3 championships. i dont think that will ever happen. LeBron is going to dominate the league for the next 10 years, making it impossible for the thunder to win more then one. and then with teams like chicgao, orlando, memphis, and portland who are all developing great teams, i think it will hard for them to reach the championship, let alone win one. Im not saying that Durant isnt capable of leading the thunder and that he wont win any rings, but i see it as almost impossible for the thunder to win multiple rings during his time.
