Am I the only one who thinks Evans can be a special player? I dont think he will average 20 like Mayo his first year but I think he will put up around 15-16 ppg.

Mayo averaged 18.5 a game, and no, i don’t think he will have the same impact as Mayo had right away. he needs to greatly improve his jumpshot.

Evans at this point right now is a Sg that doesn’t have a outside shot. He is a good athlete but not stellar. he really should return to for a year and work on fundamentals. He needs the ball in his hands to effective, and in the NBA I don’t see him as a full time PG. He has potential don’t get me wrong. We just have to see if it works out.

I’m guessing you mean for a year in university but who’s counting. If they say he is like Stackhouse he has all the tools to do well in the NBA. He should practice his three point shot cause there is not a team out there that doesn’t need a sharp shooter.

I don’t think Tyreke Evans will have the similar impact that Mayo did because i don’t think Tyreke is at Mayo’s level yet. I think Mayo has a better feel for the game and i think he knows what hes going to do. While i think Tyreke sometimes depends more on his skills so i don’t think he will have the same impact. Tyreke can develop into a very deep NBA player but i just don’t think in his first season hes going to be a star.

I think he would have more of a Eric Gordon type impact.

Tyreke Evans nad Eric Gordon having same impact?
    They are totally different players.
Evans: Good athelete, decent passer, can attack the rim. He also has good size. He doesn’t have outside, and needs ball be effective.
Gordon: Excellent outside shooter. Little undersized, but strong upperbody. Limited on defense, and needs work on handles.

I don’t see these two players as comparable at all.

He’ll have the same immediate impact as Daequan Cook or Javaris Crittendon. I think, in reality, the best immediate impact you can hope for is 20-25 minutes per game, and maybe 10ppg.

I agree with ch15r, i think 10ppg in 20-25 min is realistic because he probably will end up on a playoff team and not be asked to do much more than be a 2nd option on the 2nd squad.

I seriously doubt that Evans will have the same impact as Gordon. Gordon is a much better player. He doesn’t have all the flash that Evans has, but he can shoot better & doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective. Gordon is also mentally tougher, which is BIG in the NBA. Other than street ballin’, Evans has nothing on Gordon.

bdoody42… What do you mean Gordon is “limited” on defense. He was the best defender on his team & guarded the other team’s best guard every night. Gordon also can attact the rim & has a free-throw percentage in the upper 80’s. He’s more athletic than Evans.

    To answer your question Tezo,
Gordon is undersized for a 2 guard and can be posted up. He also is not the quickest laterally. When he is guarding the ball he doesn’t keep his hands up and infront of him and helps make the pass to the post easy for the ball handler. Add this up and he can make the job easy for the name he is defending.

Evans can score but Mayo is a better on O and D. Evans needs a fast paced team because he will not be able to get to the hole in a half-court O in the NBA and he doesnt have the shot yet to stretch the D. No NBA coach will let him play 20-25 minutes at the point this season so he will disappear in games like he did in the beginning of the season for Memphis.
