Holing JohnParticipantThe distinction with “Rondo is our leader,” though, is that they are not only willing to listen to him, they are willing to accept that what he’s saying is not some half-cocked guess. If Rondo pulls Garnett and Pierce aside and says “I see this. If you go here, you go there, and do these things, we’re getting a basket,” they nod and say OK rather than ask “are you sure?”

wrghhafaParticipant”I’m excited about my game, really. I feel that (Stotts’) offense is tailored more to the elbow and that’s what I’ve worked on this summer,” Aldridge said. ”So I’m excited about showing people that I’ve gotten better.”

wrghhafaParticipantThe Blazers finished last season 28-38 and out of the playoffs for the first time in four years. They dismissed head coach Nate McMillan and let go of some of their more veteran players, choosing to build around Aldridge and swingman Nicolas Batum.

y4554Participant“In the meantime, I have enjoyed working more closely with Mr. Hunter and the rest of the staff to improve our union and help it to work towards becoming the strongest union in sports,” Evans said. “We are updating our agent regulations, our by-laws and our player programs. We are planning to cut into the deficit that is plaguing our players by way of bankruptcy, divorce, drugs and lack of transitional skills upon leaving game. This is very exciting, especially as the business review winds down and all of the negative energy associated with it is cast aside.”

y4554ParticipantBut by using the third overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft on Bradley Beal, a shooting guard with a 39-inch vertical and a ¾-court sprint time of just 3.28 seconds, Washington may have given itself the fastest backcourt in the NBA.

y4554Participant“Now actually seeing it as the only line on the floor is totally different,” he continued. “It kind of affects your mind a little bit. You’re used to seeing two-to-three other lines on the floor. On the NBA court now, it’s just that one big old three point line with lots of space, so you have to be well adjusted to it. It’s a lot further than what people think it is.”

y4554ParticipantIt was a frustrating time for Evans, the vice president of the National Basketball Players Association, and the rest of the NBPA’s executive committee. However, after 160 stressful days, the two sides would agree to a deal and ratify a new collective bargaining agreement to save the 2011-12 NBA season.

y4554Participant“Mr. Hunter has been a tremendous help to me personally as a mentor while being on the executive committee,” Evans said. “More importantly our players should be thankful for him and our union for the job they have done throughout his tenure, especially with limited resources as it compared to the NBA.”

y4554ParticipantMuch of the cast that supported Aldridge in past seasons is now gone. Blazers starters Gerald Wallace and Marcus Camby were traded away. Brandon Roy retired, but has come back this season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Center Joel Przybilla signed as a free agent with the Milwaukee Bucks.

y4554ParticipantHeck, just ask current Atlanta Hawks point guard Devin Harris how easy that transition was the first time, when he replaced Nash on the Dallas Mavericks. A solid point guard in his own right, Harris was never able to sufficiently fill the void Nash left and ended up being traded to the New Jersey Nets – and that was before Nash won two Most Valuable Player awards.

y4554ParticipantNash was the face of the franchise on and off the court, so Dragic may never be able to replace what Nash meant in the hearts and minds of Phoenix fans, but that’s alright. A productive season in his first year as a full-time starter will go a long way in ushering in a new era for the rebuilding Suns.

jolaiParticipant“We don’t really talk to him about replacing Steve. We could go through the whole league and they couldn’t replace Steve. Our priority is to get the team that we have playing at the highest level that they can. I think Goran understands and him and Steve have a great relationship and they still talk. We all know what Steve brought to our team but now we’re trying to get ourselves in a situation where Goran can step into a role, where he feels confident in what he’s doing and he can become the best Goran Dragic. That’s what were trying to get him to do, which would be pretty good.

WeMeJamesParticipantOllie may not have any head coaching experience, but he’s far from inexperienced in the game of basketball or with Huskies hoops for that matter. Ollie, along with serving as his assistant for the past two years, played for Coach Calhoun from 1992-1995. The Huskies went 92-33 and won two Big East championships with him at the point.

baf32332Participant– if he can find his rookie shooting form. Add in the return of three-point shooting wing Alan Anderson and the likelihood of sharpshooter Jose Calderon finding additional minutes in a two point guard lineup, and Ross’ opportunities to use his skill were under threat from day one. This Raptors’ training camp and preseason has been very competitive.

boaokeooaParticipantHowever, there are always risks when players hit the court and this scrimmage became pretty competitive. Before the end of the game, Jose Calderon, John Lucas III and DeMar DeRozan had sustained injuries, although all three seem to be minor.
