HitsterParticipantThe betting sites seem to be expecting the Clippers to have a big FA season as they are generally in the top 3 or 4 teams in the betting for next season’s NBA title. This is a team which whilst having a winning 42-40 season didn’t make the play offs and whilst they have a lot of cap space and a fantastic 6th man in Lou Williams, there isn’t one current All Star player on their roster.
Brooklyn who have been stronger linked to top FAs than the Clippers and who also had a 42-40 record last season and have similar high FA hopes are 4 times the odds that the Clippers are. So even factoring in that the Clippers have a top tier coach in Doc Rivers who can probably get more out of a team with all due respect to Kenny Atkinson – the odds makers clearly think the Clippers will make more successful FA moves than the Nets.

tblazer_NZParticipantThe Clips did make the play offs (48-34) and actually took GSW to 6 games…
Doc Rivers showed he is a good coach as he got this team to play hard. Add cap space and the young core what’s not to like?

cohenbc1ParticipantTechnically they may not have an all-star on their roster, but Harrell, Williams & Gallinari all would have been solid all-star choices. Three near-miss all-stars is a lot better than one actual all-star, unless that all-star is a true superstar, top 7 or 8 guy in the league.
Add Kawhi to those three and the Clippers’ core is looking pretty good — way ahead of where the Lakers currently are, IMO.

r377ParticipantWhat you mean LA has another team besides the Lakers ???
Clippers are way under salary and got the lou williams $8mill bargain contract.
They need to sign Pat beverly (who was great in playoffs) and Zubac, plus get a few more on their roster.
Marcus Morris, Korkmaz, maybe do a deal for cauley stein.
They could even look at doing a deal with Washington for Bradley Beal

ChammesParticipantHow high is SGA’s ceiling? I’ve seen him compared to Mike Conley, Sam Cassell and other guys but I think his ceiling is way higher. Why wouldn’t the Clippers offered him if they think he was the next Conley? He was one of the best players in the series against the warriors

HitsterParticipantI looked at the wrong season’s records for the Clippers when I saw the odds so my mistake.

220ParticipantI’m interested to see what the Clippers do especially if Kawhi doesn’t sign with them. I don’t imagine they’ll overpay anyone, but they may have to if they want a bigger name… assuming Kawhi doesn’t come. The Clippers are in an interesting spot and I look forward to how Jerry West will further help mold this team.
