Trading Conley

We don’t know what to expect out of Josh Jackson yet. The Grizzlies would surely demand a pick from the Suns too. The Suns wouldn’t be so keen to send a draft pick with them being so young and needing to develop more, and bad management they need all the picks they can get. Also Conley wants to go East, so Grizz will do all they can to make sure that happens. 

 There’s plenty of dud contracts to flip him for. I think Boston is a still a chance (for Hayward), but the main suitors would have to be Indiana and Utah.

They should try to do something like this. Eventually they need to attempt to win. You have Booker and Ayton start building around them. 

I think they will trade the 6th pick for a PG and sign Julius Randle who is flying under the radar right now.

 Both teams being in rebuild and out West complicates things a bit.

As a Phoenix fan I’d like Conley but would not want to give up a pick for him if possible. But Josh Jackson was a 4th pick and has two years left on his deal, so is he more valuable than 6th pick this year is a hard call.

Jackson and Johnson would be a decent return for Memphis as they free up PG role for Morant and would save over $30 million in salary over two years giving them room to sign other players or to take on salary dumps. Plus Josh Jackson gives them another young piece alongside Morant and JJJ.

I like Conley on the suns. 

Memphis is likely moving on from Conley as he doesn’t want to be part of a rebuilding team, not sure how the Suns make any more sense than the Grizz do.

I do think they keep Conley in the loop about where is going as he has given so much too the franchise. They will look at good deals for them & a nice fit for Conley.

I think teams like Indiana & Utah will be strong considerations if they miss on the bigger free agents.

 Conley’s salary would make it hard for a legit contender to take him as they would target younger and current All Stars for the sort of salary Conley takes up. He may have to bide his time to get on a legit contender until he becomes a FA and thus takes a lower salary.

On a lower salary a guy of Conley’s ability, experience and good character would be high on any contenders’ list of players they’d like to add. He’d be 33 when he next hits FA but could easily have a few years chasing a title.

 Conley’s contract is not that great.  They would be lucky to get a late first or second rounder for him.

Orlando made the playoffs, they might have interest in Conley

 Would love to see Conley in the east, Pacers, Celtics (if Kyrie walks) I don’t think Conley helps the Suns get into the playoffs..why spend 30 mil on a player if your not going to be competitive?
