     With Toronto possibly winning their first title this week, added to all these hypothetical, yet possible scenarios,  could the East be returning to the better conference moving forward?

    What it would take:

    Toronto win the NBA championship and Kawhi Leanord resigns long term.

    Kevin Durant signs with one of the New York teams.

    Milwuakee shows they didnt peak this season and continues to improve and resigns Middleton.

    Jimmy Butler and/or Tobias Harris stay in Philly

    Victor Oladipo returns to full health and Indiana makes a nice free agent signing.

    Kyrie bounces to one of the New York teams or stays in Boston.

    Anthony Davis gets traded to Boston.

    With all those moving parts, is that enough to move the needle in the East’s favor?  How many of these scenarios would have to happen for this to happen?

     Sorry I didn’t read the post, was just admiring your usname and picture.  But if I were to answer the question from the title, the only thing that could move the needle is if Bogdan Bogdanovic moved to the East.

     I was actually going to write this post last week about east vs west.

    Portland made it to WCF.  You could argue that tornoto, milwaukee, boston and phillie are all better than Portland, changing the balance or power.  Houston could be in the argument but you could say the Top 6 teams in the league are

    GS

    houston

    4 east teams  tornoto, milwaukee, boston and phillie

      Boston really wasn’t that good this year. I’d put Portland and Denver ahead of them from this past season.

    West is still more deep, but it’s definitely starting to make a noticable shift. West has been dominant for far too long, my whole life and I’m old. It’s great to see some balance starting to take form. However the league is still top-heavy, I’m hoping Raptors win and the Warriors dynasty starts to crumble.

     The West have dominated things in the last decade or so. If you are being cynical you could say the score since 2008 is The West 7 and The East/LBJ 3.

    But with the West being so loaded I could see a few Eastern teams rolling the dice and thinking we can have a real crack at our Conference and to at least get to an NBA Final.

    Plus players want the best run at a title so why go to a loaded Conference, a couple of good FA moves and you have a competitive Eastern team.

    If Toronto do get over the line then I see Kawhi staying even if he does have an out in his contract.

    This was definitely a good year to see more balance between the conferences. What happens in free agency will big in deterring if it was a one year thing or continues to be balanced. Not ready to say the ride has shifted east as the west is still deeper but as a fan I do like seeing the east produce legit comp to make the playoffs fun.
