    So in the pre-game show for tonight’s game, Paul Pierce pitched Adam Silver an idea to revamp the dunk contest by putting three NBA dunkers against three YouTube dunkers. He’s getting flamed on Twitter right now, but I low key love the idea. The internet/street dunkers are way more creative and I think it would force the NBA guys to step their game up. Imagine Zion vs Jordan Kilganon. 

    Thoughts?

    I don’t know.  It’s NBA All-Star weekend.  Not random guys off the street.  Like Billups said the YouTube stars would dominate.  I mean their whole lives are dedicated to doing it.

     

    I think the easy solution is to bump up the prize-money significantly that would tempt stars to compete and actually put the time in to practice.

     I’m not completely sold on the idea, but I think it’s definitely worth a shot. All Star Weekend is trash. Any way to add compeition to the mix is a positive in my mind.

     What about both? 4 dunkers from the nba compete against each other and 4 street dunkers compete against each other. Winners face off  in 2 dunk final, winner takes all.

     I’m not sure NBA super paid stars will be so happy to be beaten by street players. Anyway it could be an idea for that trash weekend, people could appreciate.

    I’m always very impressed by how high a player can get up, when they finish with a spectacular power dunk, often on a follow-up rebound/put back, it’s awesome to see.  While the Nate Robinsons of the world are great, I’ve always wanted to see a dunk contest to see who could dunk at the highest point off the ground.  I once read an article about the Drexler-day Blazers and how they had this adjustable basket, and in practice they would challenge to see who could dunk the highest.  If memory serves correctly, I recall Jerome Kersey dunking at 11′ 6.5" beating Drexler at 11′ 6".  

    Who could dunk the hihgest today?  Giannis?  A.D.?  Deandre Jordan?  Zion?

    It would be great to see them start at 11" and keep moving up.  Who would hold the all-time record?  Wilt?

    Would you want to see this instead of the conventional dunk contest?
