     The All-NBA teams were announced today. Kemba Walker made one of the guard slots on the 3rd team which means hes now eligible for a super max contract as free agent. These are the options he has now

    Super Max – 5 years / 221 million with Hornets only

    Bird Max – 5 years / 190 million with Hornets only

    Team Max – 4 years/ 141 million if he signs with a different team

    This is interesting because now the Hornets have a much bigger offer they can make. He would have to give up 80 million dollars over the course of 5 years if he resigned else where. Now he could always take a one year else where and re-up the next year for a super max I believe but I’m guessing he would take the garunteed money when he has the chance. The bigger question for me is the Hornets. Cap strapped this year, not a good roster and probably the worst roster in the league if Kemba doesnt re-sign. With how tanking worked out for teams (minus maybe the karma factor of him leaving like new orleans lucked out on) decided to tank for a rebuild seems like less of a sure thing. Though re-signing Kemba will likely just lead to more mid conference finishes with this current roster. In two years the Hornets will have space open if theyre smart and can make moves. However, another down side is that the last two years of his deal Kemba will be 32/33 ish, which is usually the down turn period for point guards and the Hornets would be paying him 45 million ish a season for that. Is that really worth it for them? This is a tough call for me but honestly I’d probably let him walk and hope for a lucky rebuild personally. I get the point behind the super Max contracts but I just don’t think Kemba is worth to me because I’d only try to give these to lead dogs on a championship team or players who will attract other high level stars. I don’t see Kemba as that honestly. The 190/141 deals make more sense for him to me as a second banana if I’m a GM. With Michael Jordan running the show though who knows…

     They should let him walk. Kemba not worth the super max.

      He’s never shown he can contribute to a winning team. Coincidentally his one very outstanding year he’s playing for a contract. I don’t feel he’s even worth the max.

     Would MJ agree to Kemba being offered a super max I do wonder plus he’s 29 now so the last couple of years he’d to 32 to 34 on mega money when he’ll have a lot of miles on the clock. But he would still leave hell of a lot of money on the table if he went elsewhere.

    I could see the Hornets likely offering Bird max. But the win-win for both sides could be to offer him the super max but with an understanding that if the team isn’t contending then they will likely look to trade him to a team of his liking. Kemba gets his mega deal and the Hornets could get a return on him.

    Does Kawhi making the 2nd team mean that Raptors could offer him extra now?

     The all-NBA third team is a huge ass-kiss to guys with big reputations and counting stats. Aldridge, Siakam, Bledsoe, Harrell deserved to make an all-NBA team. LeBron, Russ, Blake, Kemba … not so much.

       Lebron putting 27,8 and 8 in 55 games, Russ a triple double per game, Kemba playing the best in his career putting up 25 + a night and being the only reason the Hornets are sometimes mentionned and yeah Blake 24,7,5 also his best season. You are tripping

         Like I said, counting stats. LeBron played half a season and treated his teammates like serfs. Russ was inefficient as fuck. If you look at his advanced stats he dropped off a cliff this year. Kemba and Blake … good teams didn’t fear them. They opted to let them get their 25 or 30 and shut everyone else down.

    The rules of eligibility aren’t strict enough. You should have to have won an MVP or made an all NBA team at least 50% of the seasons on your last contract (which must’ve been a minimum length of 4 yrs).

    Kemba has been a good servant and an all star no doubt, but $220 mil is a lot of freakin money. 5yrs/150mil is quite honestly obscene as it is. Look at the Wiz and John Wall now. How can you justify that? There’s gotta be 50+ guys that have been all stars before, virtually all have probably reached Kembas level. Gobert wasn’t even an all star and got all NBA.

    C’mon NBA fix this. Needs to be top 15 too – positionless. Why call yourself a center and trying to be 1/3 instead of 1/6? I bet KAT wishes he was a PF!

    Kemba has been criminally underpaid for years. I doubt he would take less than the supermax to stay in Charlotte as this is probably the one big chance in this career to get paid. But no way I’m offering that if I’m Charlotte. This team badly needs to rebuild and isn’t going anywhere with kemba. It would be a tough pill to swallow losing him for nothing, but I think they’re going to have to let him walk.

    They should have traded him while they could. Even if he wants to resign in Charlotte it makes no sense for them to bring him back because the state of their team and the awful contracts other marginal players have for the Hornets.

    It is absolute cap suicide by the Hornets if they bring Kemba back in.

    I love Kemba Walker (he is 1a on my wishlist for the Pacers this Summer), but they already have so much cap tied up with terrible contracts, no real direction or franchise identity to speak of & as long as Kemba is
    there they flirt with the 8th seed along with a late lottery selection at best.

    Hornets have some nice young guys in Miles Bridges, Dwayne Bacon & Malik Monk, heck even Cody Zeller is only 26yrs old. It’s time for a rebuild.

     Anyone else concerned that teams r putting clauses in contracts allowing writers  who vote, a say in who can get the max? Plus signing Kemba to that huge deal doesn’t give them room to sign any all star caliber players. I say let him go.

    There is 4 options for the hornets:

    1) Kemba leaves money on the table under the proviso that mitch K gets him some pieces to play with and he somehow moves some of those average deals that Cho put on the table. either via cheaper deals or Cheap deal+ give the other team draft picks(preferbally 2nd rounders or low lottery picks). Making cap room to go out and get better players..

    2)Kemba takes max money due to being offered this and team is in a run it back mode and hope they do something and that bad deals come off the books during this period allowing for a retool vs Rebuild..

    3) Sign and trade him to a team that is crazy enough to absorb his new deal..Get young players and expiring deals and then do number 4)

    4) Full rebuild  and add to the young pieces they have: Miles,Frank K(sort of young) and Malik M..Let the Tank begin..

    Personally I would go number 3) as you get something for him and hopefully it speeds up rebuild..
