OhCanada-ParticipantWho do they pick to play with Williamson?
This is all hypethetical and were still a long way away ffrom any of this happening but who would be the best player to pair with him? Barrett and Morant are assumed to be gone. Right off the bat I would say perimeter scoring/shooting would need to be adressed. It maybe harsh but any Lakers player seems like damaged goods to me and I would try to trade them for assets because that Lakers culture, media and lifestyle is so toxic.
Culver would likely be my first option even know they would likely also get Ingram back in that deal, I think the two are versatile enough to share the court with Williamson.
They would be able to take a very patient approach gambling on Bol Bol because Williamson would take the spotlight and any lengthy process they take could easily just be blamed on Anthony Davis. Consecutive 60 loss seasons? Meh blame AD and look forward to when Bol Bol is ready.
I think Holiday is an elite gaurd in the NBA but he may not want to stay in NO so Garland/White are also options as young gaurds to pair with a dominant forward/center or whatever you would call Zion. Although Holiday has been through alot of ups and downs in his career so if he decided e wanted to make NO his home that wouldnt surprie me either.
I dont think they go for Hachimora and Reddish is also an option as a teammate of Zion’s although I think bringing in two buddies would be a bad decision. Break them up.
Thoughts?

The GoatParticipantI’d take Bol Bol. Even if he stands there and defends the rim, given starters minutes he’d average at least 2 blocks and deter many other shots, which is more than adequate as a rookie 5. He is the same size and has the same wingspan as Rudy Gobert. Even if he can’t individually defend well initially, he will contribute to a low opposition fg%. He will stand there looking for 3 pointers on offense, out of Zions way. You get a couple of years grace while he develops too. Easy decision for me because there is no one else that you can readily identify as someone that’s a better risk picking at 4.
They should not get number 4 though. Ingram and his blood clots, Ball and these other guys are nowhere close to a good deal for AD. Boston’s package maybe. Even Atlanta, if they offer 8, 10, Collins and Huerter, I’d take that over a Lakers deal. And what happens to Randle? There’s is no way Zion does what Randle did this year statistically by the way. You are dreaming if you think otherwise. There is no need to carry two guys of the same mold – both undersized, left handed, built like a brick shithouse.

BeardedDragon84ParticipantI think new Orleans asks davis if hes willing to extend now that they have some legit help coming in. Once he says no, they put it out there that they would part with davis for Morant and assets. Memphis can get some pieces from new york and move back to 3 for Barrett, or they get more pieces from the Lakers and move back to 4 for whoever they like outside the top 3. Not sure Memphis will do it, but they might like Barrett in workouts. New Orleans starts fresh with Zion and Morant as two of the most exciting young players in the league and use the other assets and thier upcoming picks to surround them with shooting.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantI said earlier in the season f that it would be dumb conveying it. Grizzlies fans love the fact the team can use that pick to use in a trade or keep it!

kobyzParticipantIf they gonna do a trade is with Knicks in order to pair him with RJ once again if he’s there at #3, or most likely with Boston for Tatum/Brown/#14, Lakers offer is the least appealing…

halfdecayedParticipanthow the bloody hell is Kevin Knox, Robinson and DSJ more appealing to you than Ball, Hart, Kuzma and Ingram. That’s laughable at best.

thetruth87ParticipantI’d take Mitchell Robinson over any player the Lakers could offer. Plus the #3 pick is way more valuable than #4 in this draft. So I hardly find it laughable.
The #3 pick (Barrett or Morant) plus some combination of Robinson, Knox, DSJ, Ntilkina and Dallas’ 2 first round picks, is a way more attractive package than the poo-poo platter the Lakers would be offering in my opinion. Boston’s possible offer of Tatum/Brown/1st rounders would easily trump the Lakers package as well.
Add in the fact that the Pelicans front office is determined not to trade him to the Lakers because of their tampering and I would say the Lakers chances of getting AD are slim to none.

HobbyOGParticipantIf I”m NO I would trade with the Knicks for 3rd Pick, give them AD for the 3rd, Kevin Knox, Dennis Smith and an addtional first rounder..Put RJ and Zion together in the NO..that’s good marketing..

BlueRivers25ParticipantDSJ doesn’t fit with RJ. I’ll take Mitchell Robinson, Knox, the #3 pick which is RJ and another 1st rounder, maybe ask for a 2nd rounder as well, and an expiring contract.

kobyzParticipantWould you take that package over potential Boston package of Tatum, Brown and #14?

BlueRivers25ParticipantNo. But like another Poster said, Boston won’t offer Tatum and Brown for AD, if they feel AD won’t extend there.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantSo if I had to deal with the Lakers as they could come up with the biggest deal maybe.
Here is a few I could see maybe happening if the right move was made(apologies if trade doesn’t work due to $):
Deal number 1: Ball goes to Phoenix for their 6th pick and Josh Jackson. Suns do this to get their P.G to pair with Booker and help run their offense better.
Deal Lakers pelicans deal number 1: Kuzma,Hart,Ingram(if medically not retired),Josh Jackson and the 4th pick,6th pick and a future first or two for A.D and an average deal(to help clear more cap room)
The pelicans do this to get multiple picks in the lottery to pair with Zion,Kuzma and Ingram.
Deal number 2:Ball(center piece if they don’t move him to another team),Ingram if not medically retired),Kuzma,Hart,Two first rounders(only top 3 protected) and 2 second rounders..
Deal number 2:Lakers get A.D and a average deal back..Pelicans do this to be semi relivent now.
Deal Number 3: Multiple picks: Lakers 4th pick,Trade Ball to Suns for Suns pick or Bulls pick so 6th or 7th pick,Ingram to the knicks for the 3rd pick from Knicks or 9th pick from Washington and Portis(if not medically retired) and Kuzma + Hart for A.D and an average deal.
Deal number 3 Pelicans do this to go full rebuild mode it would probably only be done if all teams agreed to it.
Personally though I wouldn’t be fully against Ball going to NOLA as they have the Phoenix medical staff that worked with Nash/Griffin with his time in Phoenix so who knows maybe Ball could play more games making it not such a bad move for both side…

kobyzParticipantLakers deal holds too much question marks, it’s can’t win a Boston package around the proven Tatum or Knicks offer who holds the card of RJ Barrett that may be the one thing that could make Zion happy to go and play in New Orleans through out his rookie contract, which is important…

Andv1 WaitingParticipantThe boston package doesn’t look so appealing after the playoffs IMO this is also without mentioning the draft compensation they can offer isn’t better than the fourth pick in this draft which they could target Cam reddish which could do the exact same thing as taking Barret Possibly as Barret,Reddish and Zion are all pretty close. Zion is also knows ball through his brother Lamelo meaning getting Ball may put zion at ease as their is some familarity there.. There was talks of some of the Pelicans management also being high on Ball so there was that as well..
Not saying they couldn’t take the Celtics deal to force A.D out east or to spite Lakers but to say there isn’t question marks with Celtics deal also is not fully correct. Taytum regressed this season,Brown also did a little, Terry Rozier is tanking his value by seeming like a Reggie jackson take 2,their lottery pick this season is 14 which there probably won’t be any duke players that Zion is close with there the other picks they can offer will be average also..
The Knicks deal…I don’t know how they could make Salaries work for it to happen. That deal has a lot of varibles also: How can they make $ work,Will the Knicks give up of their youth and mulitple first rounders for A.D? I don’t know if the Knicks would do this after the Melo trade with Denver.

kobyzParticipantBarrett and Zion have brotherhood, and also Barrett is crazy prospect who just had historical freshman ACC season, Knicks would not need to match salary to make the deal happened as they way under the salary cap…
Boston package still look way better than Lakers, as their young guys are at least make the playoffs and also did something in the playoffs, they more proven talent than Lakers talent, also their future picks could be more appealing than the fourth pick in a 3 men draft…0
