I’ve never seen Cole as a Roy Williams type recruit.  From reading his scouting report, Cole just screams Austin Rivers, but more athletic.  He’s an explosive scorer but he turns the ball over a ton, doesn’t get teammates inolved and guys don’t really like playing with him is what I’ve read.  I also hear people screaming, "why would any one and done want to play for Roy???!!!!"  Since Roy doesn’t sell guys on NBA riches like K and Calipari, I guess that’s a fair question, but maybe Cole and Greg are not interested entirely on his draft stock, playing one year in college and getting paid as soon as possible.  I don’t know the kid.  The guy is obviously talented, but I believe Roy has his work cut out for him getting Cole to come in and play team ball, what Carolina has been known for instead of him just getting his numbers.  I honestly don’t know too much about Cole and his game.  What other guys would you compare him to?

I think Hubert Davis had something to do with it..Davis has a good relationship with his father from the playing days..I’ve posted this numerous times, I don’t understand why a one and done goes to UNC, that’s not one and done type of basketball…Also UNC lost a ton of key players from this year team, I don’t see them competiting..wierd choice.

The team is going to be drastically different next season, with pretty much all of its rotation pieces gone from last season. Anthony is going to have the ball in his hands a ton and Williams is pretty much going to have no choice but to rely on him. Whether you think he is a good coach for one and done players or not, I think this sets up as a very good opportunity for Anthony to showcase his game.

As far as the idea of Williams not being a good coach for one and done players, I’m not sure I necessarily buy into that. I think Williams is a guy who clearly puts the interests of his program first and coaches to the strengths of his teams, rather than simply giving guys mins and opportunities to enhance their draft stock. A guy like Nasir little might have underperformed in his system because he was fighting for mins with more experienced and better players (at least right now) at the collegiate level. However, coby white did quite well in his system and likely enhanced his stock to the point he will be a lottery pick. Roy will put the guys on the floor and play a style that will give his team the best chance for success, and next season that will likely revolve around Anthony being the centerpiece of his offense.

From the limited stuff I have seen of him, Cole Anthony doesn’t do much for me.  Then again, MOST of these 1/Doners don’t do much for me.  I like and am intrigued by James Wiseman but maybe that’s only because he is coming to Memphis.  Looks like a freakish athlete in many ways — and I guess we will see if this contributes to winning.  His HS team won when they were LOADED.  They won LESS this season after the team got gutted (even more after Memphis East power forward and fellow U of M recruit Malcolm Dandridge went down with a knee injury).  Late 70’s to early 90’s, James Wiseman would be the hands-down number one pick.  Pencil in a Finals appearance and at least one MVP award.  Nowadays, who knows.

1/Doners might not win the whole thing (or even get to the Final Four) again in 2019-2020.

Never understood why he was ranked so high (#2 by ESPN). I like Nico Mannion as a prospect more..

More athletic, scorers mentality…and he plays against better comp. I like Nico but Cole is better.
