stoneyislandParticipantEveryone in the free world except for NBADRAFT.NET seems to recognize that the bulls need help at the PG position. There is no way in hell they are drafting another forward when they have a log jam at the forward position. If the Bulls luck up and draft second they are taking Ja Morant without question. If they stay at the 4 position they will chose between 3 PG (Coby White, Jarrett Culver or Darius Garland). Id prefer Culver or Garland over White but either of these guys will be better than what we currently are trotting out everyday.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantRight now most mocks is a Big Board meaning the ranking of the prospects. Not who they believe that team will pick. B ut even if the Bulls do end up with the 1st pick u still select Zion and worry about fit and possibly making a trade for Morant or a point guard later.

OhCanada-ParticipantIf Kris Dunn could stay healthy would you reconsider? Or is he just bad.

GBeeParticipantHe’s bad. Can’t run an offense, is a slasher who who doesn’t finish well, or draw fouls at a good rate, doesn’t shoot it well and his calling card, which was his defense wasn’t even good this year. If they offer him an extension of any kind I’ll be disapponted. As for who I’d prefer, I’m all in on Garland. Offensively he’s everything that the Bulls need from that position…actually most teams could use his skill set in this era. He’s the best ball-handler and shooter in this class. He’s up there as far as shot creation and off the ball play as well.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantFrom the end-of-season press conference, it sounds as though Chicago’s front office is prepared to bus toss Dunn for this season. The worst case scenario played out where he is just a terrible fit next to Zach LaVine. Dunn he is not good off the ball. His 35 percent from three is not terrible, but he was hesitant to take it and opponents did not respect him. His mid-range game fell off quite a bit as well. As for people who might be interested in getting a reclamation project, in the small sample sizes the past two years where Dunn was healthy, and had the ball in his hands without LaVine, he showed real promise. In the ten games where the Bulls had Dunn and not LaVine, Dunn averaged 15.8 PPG, 6.9 APG, 5.0 RPG, 1.7 SPG, and shot 47 percent from the floor (he also was 8-19 from three for 42 percent). The terrible 22-60 Bulls, were 5-5 in those games. This was not all that different from 2017-18 when Dunn averaged 14 PPG, 6.2 APG, 4.5 RPG, 2.0 SPG, and shot 44 percent from the floor (a seemingly more representative 32-93 from three) in 38 games without LaVine. The slightly less terrible 27-55 Bulls were 13-25 in such games, though they did have a very good month or so prior to Dunn landing on his face after a dunk. In a higher functioning situation, he can do well. As for the Bulls drafting Ja Morant, there has to be real concerns about the same Dunn-LaVine dynamic being replicated because Morant and Dunn are very similar in both good and bad. Ja Morant does not figure to be much better on the weak side of a Zach LaVine isolation than Kris Dunn. Whether it is Morant or Dunn, I can get behind them with shooters, athletes, and a clear plan. This situation is not that. Coby White reminds me of Leandro Barbosa, which would be better next to LaVine but might not be an ideal backcourt for developing Markkanen and Carter. They need a point guard who values getting others involved, because if Markkanen is not an All-Star and Carter does not develop into a very good starter then they are in for a rebuild to nowhere. Garland played essentially 4 non-conference games, so I’m not going to act as though I saw enough of him to have a strong opinion. Then again, with the known players having clear flaws in their games, people are going to turn their imagination of possible saviors to the unknowns.

stoneyislandParticipantHe’s not trash but he’s not a starting PG in this lead. As a backup I think he’d excel tho

tylerchimParticipantAnyone seen the DRose doc yet? Heavily hinted at a possible reunion with the Bulls this offseason. Buls GM Paxson was featured heavily as well.
With that being said, I don’t believe a reunion will affect their draft day decision making. I’m not a huge fan of any PGs in this draft though, there don’t seem to be any clear-cut franchise cornerstones.
Hypothetically if the Bulls stay in the top 5, they should be taking who they consider to be the BPA regardless of position. Right now they need to be accumulating assets, not worrying about positional fit. My preference for them (other than Zion) is RJ. His size, defensize versatility, and playmaking would fit well with Lavine, Lauri, and WCJ. Porter is a good piece, but not someone you should base draft day decisions on regardless of that contract.
After that, Ja would be my pick. I do have concerns about a defensize backcourt featuring Ja and Lavine, and I think his jumpshot is a real liability at the next level.
Even though this draft is substancially weaker than the past 2, it’s also going to be one of the more exciting draft days. The top 3 are likely a lock with Zion at 1 and Ja/RJ going in that 2-3 spot. After that, it’s going to be pandamonium.
Can’t wait to see what a savvy Celtics’ front office does with 3 first rounders. Do they use all 3 to trade into the top 7-8? How does a possible AD trade affect their decision (i.e. are they drafting based on their roster, or the Pelicans?)
Also, I believe the Lakers have a 14% chance of getting a top 4 pick. If they’re at 4 and Zion, RJ, and Ja are gone, who do they go with? What if they get Zion (3% chance), how does that affect what they offer in a potential an AD trade package?
I’ll be posted in front of my TV with some popcorn and pizza. Best day of the gosh dang year!

HeroescantdieParticipantThe guys you’ve said plays differently
Culver – Yes, he can play the pg some time, but I don’t think he can run a team or play point guard full time, he can facilitate and run plays from time to time like a 2nd ball handler but he is not a point guard. He is more of a point foward if he plays Sf, since he is a 6’7, his a/t ratio is not that great however he can run pick and rolls like a point guard, he is more of a 2nd ball handler that palys the sg or sf position
White – He is a combo guard, like others before him, devin harris, lou will and others. His ceiling is arenas accorind to this site and arenas is a combo guard coming out of Arizona and in the NBA (Wizards)converted to point guard and the system and roster of that team are suited for him. White is a scoring combo guard and I wish he could be like Arenas and be that scoring point guard. He should continue to improve his facilitating skills though to involve his teammates more.
Garland – He is a point guard, a little bit of a scorer but to me out of this group he is the natural point guard here. Didn’t show his full ability because of the injury.
If I’m the bulls I can trade down to select Garland, or at 4 I can take white but that’s too high, White range IMO is 5-7 I think.

OhCanada-ParticipantSometimes you just gotta make a pick and take whoever you think is best. I think this years mid to late lottery presents that scenerio. I dont see a late lottery pick wanting to trade up to the mid lottery. The difference between picking Hachimora 4th and Nickiel Alexander Walker 13th (according to staging.nbadraft.net mock for reference) may not be worth traading a ton of assets to move up a bunch of spots. Might not be as much movement this year.

stoneyislandParticipantThe bulls are set at forward period. If we do luck up and get the first pick we are going to be really crowed up front because wendell ends up as the first big man off the bench which is where he belongs. we move lauri to the 5, zion at the 4, Otto or hutch at 3 and one radical move I would make is to move Lavine to the PG position. He had some experience playing there with the timberwolves.

MJBrownParticipantwhen you’re unsure about what a teams line up looks like for next year, it means they have a surplus of talent in a certain area. The bulls are trending up in the east and with a good draft pick I can see them upping their win total significantly next year

HitsterParticipantThe Bulls have some decent young pieces and even if they get a top 3 pick there could be logjams in the starting line up but coming off 22-60 season they literally should take BPA.
They wouldn’t pass on Zion and what combo of Zion, Lauri and Wendell Cartter would start they could figure out.
Dunn is injury prone and there are questions about his game at an NBA level so Morant has to be looked out.
RJ would play around LaVine and Porter too.
What they would do below this I don’t know as there is a bit of a drop off from the top 3. They could easily draft any number of guys at 4 to 7 who could get good minutes or might they look at say Bol Bol who would give them something different to what they have already or even look to trade out for an established guy as the starting core is still young.
D-Rose returning home would be a great story and would shift a load of merch but at this stage of his career and with his durability issues I’d rather see him having a real tilt at a title or two,
