Melo is better than Rudy Gay will ever be. Melo is much much stronger and although he has had a rough stretch as of late is still one of the most elite scorers in the league.

 I think Melo’s lack of passion when he plays now takes him out of the top three for now.

Melo > Iguodala, Gay or Granger.  Whether you hate him or not, his offensive skill set is top 5 in the NBA, he can score from anywhere.  His defense will always be suspect, but Tyson Chandler does a good job of anchoring the D.  Plus he rebounds well for the SF position.

And it’s no contest.

Jackson Davis’ list is right on. Say what you will about Melo, but the dude is an absolute beastly scorer. Think in a series, he completely outclasses any 3 man besides LeBron and Durant, the two best by a nice wide margin. People might actually get a kick out of seeing Melo/Durant’s head-to-head’s. Though 11 games (all with the Nuggets, has yet to play him with the Knicks for some reason), Melo is 10-1. He has averaged 29.6, 6.5 and 3.8 on 50% FG while Durant has gone for 26.8, 6.8 and 3 on 42% FG.

Granted, the last time they played each other was in January 2011 and Durant has improved tremendously. Plus, a majority of his wins were during Durant’s first two years when the Sonics/Thunder were maybe the worst team in the league. Just was an interesting little factoid. One guy who people may be sleeping on and is still up there is Paul Pierce. Now, it has been a long known fact that for the past three or four years, LeBron James lights up Paul Pierce like Chinese New Year. Melo, not so much.

He had a couple strong games against Boston in the 2011 Play-off’s, but P squared held his own against Melo. Plus, in the 3 contests this year, Paul Pierce went off on Melo. Anthony scored 28.6 ppg per contest (3 games), Pierce scored 35.7 (never less than 30). Meanwhile, LeBron and Durant have both been able to get the better of Pierce, just not Melo as of yet. Still have Melo ranked third in SF’s, just may not be too fast to drop Paul Pierce behind Rudy Gay or Andre Iguodala just yet. Think those guys are the top 6, with LeBron and Durant getting a healthy space over everyone else. At least until Melo does work consistently against both players and just in general.

Even though Carmelo has been in the league since 2003,he still havent shown what all he’s capable of doing..Right now Durant is 2nd becuz he’s gotten his team to finals,and that has labeled him a winner in the eyes of alot of people….Melo isnt far behind him,in fact on some nights might be better, becuz of his post game..And he can do everything offensively Durant can do…..And as much as i dislike Pierce becuz of his cocky & unsportsman like attitude when the Celtics are winning..Pierce is still a clutch player…
