Exactly how good is Rajon Rondo?

Yes, he puts up the numbers to give off the impression that he is a top point guard, but is he really the same type of talent as Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, or Russell Westbrook?

Yes, he averages a very respectable 11.2 assists a game, but to me he seems like more of a product-of-the-system type of guy than an elite point guard. How good would Rondo be if he didn’t have three Hall of Famers that can all finish after he passes to them? I feel as though Danny Ainge is shopping Rondo because he knows the Big 3 will not be around much longer, and fears that Rondo’s production will severely suffer, leading him to shop Rondo for a more dynamic, offensive minded point guard.

To make matters worse, the man can’t shoot. He can’t shoot three’s, he can’t shoot midrange jumpers, and he can’t make a free throw. You cannot count on Rondo to get the ball in his hands and take over the game. He simply cannot create offense for himself, immedietly lowering his value.

He is, however, a great rebounding guard. He grabs rebounds at a rate that reminds me of Jason Kidd. He posts triple doubles fairly often and is dangerous in the open court.

Rajon Rondo is a mystery to me.

    Thoughts?

What makes him so good is that everybody knows he can’t shoot, but he still is soo productive. Athletic, excellent rebounder, and has probably the best court vision. He makes his teammates better, thats why if the celts deal him i think they are making a mistake. I also doubt chris paul resigns with them. They are all getting old and have no youth on that team.

yes but his court vision comes with no defense in his face. He is able to see everything in front of him because the defense gives him a few steps due to his putrid shooting. He is very athletic and a great rebounder, but its hard to respect him as a top tier PG when hes surrounded by talent and sees the whole court without any defense
