Mr.CreativeParticipantJust curious to see which teams would come up on top. There’s so much player movement that this coming NBA season would be an interesting season. Which team is your choice to make surprise turnarounds?

L.ShapParticipantWest:
The Trailblazers for sure will be a GOOD surprise team.
I personally think the Warriors will suck if they don’t pick up a point guard. They will be the BAD surprise team.
Also watch out for Sacramento. They are not a bad looking team right now. They just need to resign Udrih and Artest, then they have potential.East:
The Raptors and The Sixers (even though they both were playoff contenders) will be the good surprise teams. Also potentially Chicago with the addition of Rose.
The bad surprise teams will be Atlanta and Detroit. Detroit won’t suck but they will definetly not be as good as last year. Billups and Wallace are starting to collapse. The Hawks will fall especially with the potential loss of Chilldress or Smith and no draft picks.0 -

lj7ParticipantI agree with all of those teams except the Clips and GS.
I can see Milwaukee coming along a lot over the next few seasons.
I don’t know that this team will be a massive surprise, but I think Orlando are going to live up to their potential this season and definitely be contenders in the East0-

Mr.CreativeParticipantWEST —
Yeah, I definitely agree with you on the West. PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS – Just had a huge makeover and roster overhaul! With Greg Oden back, imagine the numbers they could put up. The small ball offensive-minded WARRIORS for sure will lose if they don’t re-sign Monta Ellis or get someone to make up for Davis’ departure from “The City”. I kinda liked their roster lineup from the 2006-2007 Season with Jason Richardson in the mix. LA CLIPPERS is a maybe with the arrival of Baron Davis….not sure though.
EAST —
I really liked the PHILADELPHIA 76ERS in the 07-08 Postseason when they went up against the Pistons. For sure, they are the team to expect from alot in this coming season. They were definitely a sleeper in the postseason. If they get Josh Smith, man….this guys can cause some problems! I agree that the PISTONS and HAWKS are falling. HAWKS will lose out if they don’t get Josh Smith back and Josh Childress as well. The MILWAUKEE BUCKS is on my radar as well.

tbucParticipantI’d say the Heat and Bucks could surprise people this year. I really don’t see any teams out West that can surprise anyone.

themidnightriderParticipantI don’t think Westbrook will get all that much better (SG pretending to be a PG), but Green’s shooting will only improve and if Kevin Durant finds his way to a gym, look out. I mean the guy is 4th in the league in scoring and he doesn’t have a post up game as a 6-9 or 6-10 forward. Wait till he adds another 15lbs…he will be a lethal scorer. Plus, they have a shot at Griffin or Harden or Thabeet, all of whom would compliment the thunder well.
I’m a Bulls fan…and I’d like to say we get better…but I don’t see how. Rose could explode to superstar next season, or it might be another couple of seasons down the road. Even if he does- Ty Thomas will never be consistent, Noah will always be a role player. Salmons was a great pick up, but can he and Deng work together? We won’t be getting a good draft pick. I think we are still a ways away.
Look out for New Jersey- Everyone and their mother knows about Devin Harris and Vince Carter, but Brook Lopez could become a 20-10-2 guy next year. That wouldn’t really be that far-fetched. Not to mention, eventually either Yi or Ryan Anderson could be a sweet shooting PF. CDR will never start, but he could be a good role player and endlessly entertaining to watch.

youngmagParticipantWithout Andre Miller Sixers won do nada sorry. Toronto is going to surprise most no1 thinks there going to be that good Bosh,Bargani,Hedo,Calderon and Demar that is a great line up. As for the West Warriors and Okc is going to surprise. Don’t sleep about the Grizzlies neither.

Chicago1980ParticipantI really like the wizards to have a big turn around they made some good off season moves by getting Mike Miller and Randy Foye and if Arenas comes back healthy they can probably win 50+ games and they will be one of the highest scoring teams in the league.

L.A. Clippers this team is loaded Gordon, Thornton can score, Davis can penetrate and pass, Griffin, Kaman, Camby, Jordan are very good big men just have to stay healthy
Memphis Grizzlies plenty of talent Iverson, Gay, Mayo, Randolph and depth with Gasol, Thabeet etc.
Portland Trailblazers will make it much deeper in the playoffs last year they gave away Game 1 basically looking lose out there and Yao destroyed them but obviously that won’t happen again.
Utah Jazz not really a surprise but if healthy this team took the Lakers to 6 the year before in the Conf. SemisEast
Wizards this team is stacked Arenas, Butler, Miller, Stevenson, Jamison, Haywood, McGhee the key is to stay healthy and play good D.Knicks don’t underestimate Nate Robinson he gets to be a 6th man again, David Lee finally has some help down low.
Also should be the year Wilson Chandler shines and Galinari, Harrington can shoot well for big men. Finally the Knicks have a real coach and some size best team since Van Gundy left.Toronto they added Hedo, Evans, Wright, Belinelli this is one of the most athletic teams in the NBA.
Don’t sleep on Calderon as a PG either he has plenty of weapons now too. The bench is pretty good too with Jack, Evans, Derozan, Amir Johnson, Banks and Rasho.Hawks they added Crawford, Teague getting blown out in the playoffs has given them some experience.
If Marvin Williams, Joe Johnson, Crawford are all healthy that trio is as good as any 3 wing men.
Horfod, Pachulia, Joe Smith are good big men but Josh Smith is the X-factor with his blocks and athletic play.0 -

justin22443ParticipantIf Gilbert can get his groove back and pass the ball around the Wizards are going to make waves in the East. I also like the Sixers chances if Elton Brand can stay healthy. As far as the West goes, I’ll go out on a limb and say the Thunder.

well a lot of people didn’t think Denver would make the playoffs, so I guess them getting to the confrence finals would make them the biggest surprise team.
