lw2010lg32ParticipantWhat should the Cavs look for in free-agency..?
I’ve heard numerous combinations of draft picks in the Top 10, since they have 2 lottery picks.
What’s the next step that needs to be taken..?

jjonzParticipantJust show enough promise that fans are excited & get a Top 5 stud in 2012. The 2 rookies from this draft may be good complimentary/project players. AJamison has a 15mill expiring deal/they have 15 mill TPE from the Hea t. So i would stand pat this year because their is not that franchise changing pick @ top of the draft.

TRC1991ParticipantSelect Derrick Williams with the 2nd pick and Jonas Valanciunas with the 8th
Sign Marcus Thornton to a 3 year/18 mil contract
Let Anthony Parker and Ryan Hollins walk
Release Alonzo Gee
Have a Lineup of:
PG- Baron Davis / Ramon Sessions
SG- Marcus Thornton / Daniel Gibson / Manny Harris
SF- Derrick Williams / Christian Eyenga / Joey Graham
PF- JJ Hickson / Antawn Jamison / Samardo Samuels / Luke Harangody
C- Anderson Varejao / Jonas Valanciunas / Semih Erden
15 man roster

HitsterParticipantI like what Taylor suggests although you might be drafting two frontcourters where they are slightly crowded as Williams can play mainly at SF and Jamieson will be gone after next season or might be traded/brought out. Hickson is still raw so can develop alongside Valanciunas or they could even like Valanciunas abroad for a year or so. The minutes can be shared around next year and then minus Jamieson the rookies can play bigger minutes the years after.
If you start thinking about using the LeBron exception then the name that jumps out to me is Iggy from Philly. The 76ers had a good year but there are still rumours that Coach Collins wants to reshape the roster with Rod Thorn so using the LeBron exception and the 8th pick gives Philly huge cap space and a top 10 pick. If you take it further you could say Brand and Iggy for Jamieson and the exception plus maybe swapping the 8th pick for Philly’s 16th pick so you get:-
Iggy, Brand and 16th pick to the Cavs
LeBron exception, Jamieson and 8th pick to the 76ers.
This way Cleveland get two proven starters and would have trade value in Brand come 2012/13 and can draft a very good player with their top pick and a long term prospect with the 16th pick.
Philly clear a load of cap space and maybe buy out Jamieson and with 8th pick can draft a good player and use the cap space to make some FA moves.
