Evan Turner got his first chance to start in an NBA game today and looked every bit like the same dynamic talent that the Sixers thought they were getting when they drafted him 2nd.
It’s been a rough road so far for Turner after being tossed in the Summer League out of shape, then being brought along slowly like he was a prep to pro prospect by having the wingman play back up PG off the bench instead of starting SG, the resilient Turner finally got to start at SG and made mark.
Tho he only shot 4-10 from the field he continued to get to the line and convert the easy ones going 6-6 from the foul line.
Turner’s stat line in his first start:
14 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 steals, and 1 block. Only 2 turnovers. And his +/- was +11.
Turner is as resilient a human being as they come and even tho I wanted Cousins, I do love Turner’s game and know he will find a way to contribute in whatever role he plays. But he proved today what role is best suited for him.
