armchairgmParticipantLaker fans had been shitting on Rob Pelinka all year, but it paid to wait as Lakers got a great haul for Russell Westbrook.

NorrinRaddParticipantI still dump on Pelinka, but this was a good haul.

HitsterParticipantRussell back where he started off and a couple of nice role players in for only giving up one pick. The Lakers don’t really have to worry about giving picks up as long as they don’t commit too much long term cash to none elite guys as they will always be a top FA destination.

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantI don’t get what Minnesota was thinking. While it is slightly upsetting that Utah thinks so little of their team playing well that they are willing to punt it to lock in the 9th pick in the draft and hope the Lakers don’t have some form of Laker exceptionalism that gets them the next star by 2027, it is not surprising. Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt are good players. D’Angelo Russell isn’t a star, but is capable of playing off LeBron and Davis. I’m stunned the Lakers turned over their roster for so cheap. It might be too late for this year to be more than a 7 or 8 seed. That said, if they get rolling, they are well-positioned for next season.

HitsterParticipantUtah is always going to be a rebuild and they have been punching above their weight. We all know the Ainge ethos and we do trust his process. The Lakers in the play offs if everyone is fit will always be a danger and it might be this year LBJ has his last great run as next year he’ll be a year older so even he has to slow down sometime.

NorrinRaddParticipantWestbrook plans to sign with the Clippers. I was kind of hoping he’d go to the Bulls. Thoughts on fit with the newly signed Westbrook to the Clippers?

HitsterParticipantHe’ll be an upgrade on John Wall so will give them scoring if he comes from the bench. If they want to plug him into the starting line up it could work giving them a playmaker to help spread the floor for Kawhi and PG13.

NorrinRaddParticipantIdk, looks like he’s in the starting lineup. Doubt he spreads the floor though. I’m not sure how he’ll do, but it’s got to be a bit better than his stint with the Lakers.

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantThe Westbrook trade was awful for the Lakers, but Westbrook the player was not. He is not the guy he was in OKC, but he was incorrectly being blamed for everything that went wrong with the Lakers. If nothing else, he showed up and was ready to play. The Westbrook trade depleted the Lakers depth and balance. Blame LeBron for that. Anthony Davis being unable to stay on the floor is not all Davis’s fault, luck plays a role, but it certainly isn’t Westbrook’s.
I think the Clippers would be well-served keeping Terance Mann with the starters and having Russ have more of the ball with the second unit, but we’ll see how it plays out.
