canadabasketballisrisingParticipant7 game series, all players in their prime nba season, all healthy, current nba rules, who wins?
2 Rudeboy
Starters- SHAQ,LEBRON,MULLIN,PENNY & THOMAS2ND UNIT: Ja Morant, David Thompson,Dominique Wilkens, Rodman,Kevin McHale 11TH MAN Peja Stojakovic and 12th Man Tony Allen. COACH Pay Riley
EXPLANATION: I tried to select players that were athletic, had high iqs, versatile ,capable of playing multiple positions and also willing to be the man and allow teammates to shine..Or as Shaq famously says, ”Others Must Do Their Thang”.I Dont see how this team can lose. What defense can stop Shaq Dominance inside or McHale Post Moves..Or stop Lebron,Dominique,Penny,Ja,Zeke or David Thompson from getting into the Lane?
On The Defensive End: With Lebron,Rodman and Tony Allen i have 3 guys considered to be the best defenders at their positions in league history.Shaq was a much better defender than he was given credit.. My Team Has Athletic Dunkers:Ja,Lebron,Thompson,Dominique and Penny Pure Shooters in Mullin and Peja.7 DMO
PG: Oscar Robertson, Steve Nash SG: James Harden, Vince Carter SF: Elgin Baylor, Tracy McGrady, Jimmy Butler PF: Dirk Nowitzki, James Worthy, Dave Cowens C: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Joel Embiid Coach: Rudy Tomjanovic
For my team, I honestly just went for the best players I could at each point. When you have this much talent, it’s hard to overcome. My thought was not too draft role players from the NBA but take guys that were All Stars and Hall of Famers that would be role players on my team (Carter and McGrady as shooters/scorers/energy off the bench, Butler as my wing D off the bunch, Cowens as my hustle guy). Instead of my team focusing on one style, I wanted my team to be able to handle any style of play. You wanna run? We have a bunch of athletes that can keep up. You wanna get into a shooting match? We can have shooters at all 5 positions. You wanna slow it down and play half court? We’ll post up Kareem and Embiid all day. Wanna play big? Our smallest guy on the court will be 6’5. Wanna play small? We can do that too. Each player has been an All Star. Retired guys in the Hall of Fame. We’re sporting 6 guys who have won the MVP. You can’t isolate anybody on this team. No glaring weaknesses. There’s nobody to “Hack-a-Shaq”. Can’t go zone and force us to shoot 3s. Can’t run us into the ground. We’re deep and adaptable.
Went Rudy for coach as this team is full of high IQ All Stars. They don’t need a certain system to succeed. They need a coach who is a good communicator and motivator while note being a hot head. Known to be good with veteran players and has had success in the playoffs.4+ -

NorrinRaddParticipantThis matchup… it requires a lot of brainstorming… I don’t know where I’m even leaning yet, be back on this thread in a while. Very tough match up!

ZouldiersParticipantProbably the toughest one to vote. Rudeboy has Shaq and Bron, who are probably the two most dominant players of all time, while dmo’s team has a better cast around Kareem and Oscar. With that being said, leaning towards dmo’s team as his team will thrive better in the modern era plus Rudeboy’s lack of bigs and lack of shooting in both lineups will be a problem in the long run. This is a tough one to judge.

NorrinRaddParticipantThis is very tough. Young Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and old Oscar Robertson teamed up to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest team of all time. That can be debated their, while if they were both actually in their prime it would be even better. DMO has the better 12 overall players. Joel Embiid could give Shaq fit offensively which could open up some lanes for his cousin athletes, etc. Oscar Robertson would over power a tough little Isiah Thomas. Dirk can stretch things out and even beat LeBron and company before…
That being said, when it comes to a tighter rotation of say 9 players and having 2 of the 3 most dominating players playing in the game together (1st dominant was definitely Wilt the Stilt) they will not be denied. Every other play is built around Shaq because he cannot be stopped. No he will not stop Kareem either but Shaq will get his for sure. Then you take LeBron at his prime and there is no answer for him either. And tik for tak, Oscar can’t guard Isiah either. Nobody on DMO’s team can. Pat Riley I give a slight edge as a coach as well… I would pick DMO if this were based on careers. Since it’s peak I have RUDEBOY slight edge.

OhCanada-ParticipantRudeboy.. I really think only two ‘NBA’ players can match up with a prime Shaq, that I am aware of at least. Wilt Chamberlain and Artis Gilmore. I think everybody else gets smoked. He’s just too strong and athletic, mean too. Easily the most intimidating player I’ve watched play. He’s also got Lebron so theres absolutely nothing you can do. Whoever plays this team is probably down by 10 at halftime playing Hack a Shaq for the rest of the game.
DMO’s team is probably my favorite team built. Dirk and Nash, VC and Mcgrady, Robertson and Kareem. But that team is gonna have some chemistry issues. T-Mac left Toronto to be featured as a first option in Orlando and I don’t he would be happy in that role in this situation. He also never got out of the 1st round in the playoffs. And Vince kinda quit on his team when he was unhappy. I’ve seen alot of bad body language from Embiid when he struggles, thats really my first impression of him with all the times I seen him play like a ghost against Gasol. Harden quit on his team too, he wasn’t even shy about it and is completely disinterested. At least Vince has constantly tried to patch things up with Toronto, James acts like it never happened.

sniperParticipantWhen I am comparing these teams I really just look at the top 8 or 9 guys because that’s who typically plays. So with DMO’s team, say, I agree there are some guys with attitude problems, but Harden’s the only one who’ll be on the court and his talent outweighs his personality.
Of course I could be wrong as to how the minutes would be distributed. I would envision that the starters are Harden, Big O, Baylor, Dirk and Kareem. Nash, Worthy and Cowens would be the main bench guys. One of Vince, TMac or Butler would get a few minutes. Embiid would be the 12th man.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantClose call but I’m going with DMO here. While it’s difficult to pick against prime Shaq and Lebron, I think Rudeboy is a little light on shooting. There are several players in that lineup who aren’t a threat at all from outside and several that struggle from the foul line. That could come into play here. I think DMO has the deeper and more versatile lineup. No one is stopping prime Kareem, not even Shaq. More shooters. More guys that can create shots. Just more ways to beat you. It’s gotta be DMO here imo.

HitsterParticipantThis is another hard one. Rudeboy has the best player on his team out of the two in LBJ and Shaq at his peak was dominant. He has elite defenders in Thomas and Rodman plus perfect role players in Mullin and McHale.
DMO has the highest NBA scorer ever in Kareem and could they stop the skyhook. Dirk gives them the original elite shooting big man could you put Rodman to guard him perhaps. DMO perhaps has more bench scoring depth but Rudeboy has the better coach.
I flip a coin and go with DMO.
